you guys would shit if you ever saw me use the bumper and winch on the Scout as an engine hoist. I made an "A" frame type contraption that "hooked" onto the tow hooks and rested against the brush guard. hooked the snatch block out on the end and viola, instant engine hoist. Than I would drive them around, swinging freely off the front end, to the location they needed to be.

But then you don't have to buy the 100v Cordless Impact Driver to power it.

The cork is enough to puncture most Duratrac's.
Also, to do it right, you need to take a grinder and sharpen the other end of the nail, doubling the odds.

Did the reputation of Optima batteries ever bounce back from 5+ years ago? I vaguely recall something about the movement of where they were manufactured which correlated with a drop in quality.

The wheeling rig needs a new battery and I passed on an Optima the last time I needed one for it; went with an AGM of lesser price (CarQuest IIRC). I haven't seen chatter from folks in recent history to know whether or not they've gotten better.

Probably not super useful in terms of a longevity report....
I'm now running a blue top (deep cycle + starting I guess) since my factory battery crapped out at Powell.
It's been working fine for the last few months :notsure::rofl:

Should've worked a factor55 into the equation somehow.

    o_O  Not really.

I've run a yellow top in the past, but after the rumored QC problems with Optimas, I passed on sticking with the brand.

I had some whatever brand battery in an old pickup which lived 11 or 12 years... something insane. There were even a few dead battery moments from leaving headlights on, etc. and it still managed to go that long. I think I got spoiled by that.
