I would avoid load range E if you don't need it. I had E rated Ko2 stock size 265/65/17. Looked great and road noise wasn't bad compared to others. But they were stiff and I lost about 2mpg. I commute hwy and some back roads. I switched to 265/70/17 Dynapro At/M and they are great. Smooth ride, no noise, still aggressive looking and not heavy like an E load! Also gained back my lost MPGs.

If you want more rugged appearance and dont care about MPG go with Kbro2. If you want a better riding and more practical road tire with still an aggressive tread go with the Dynapro, Falken Wildpeak, or Cooper AT.

Did you have to change your shorts? Glad you are ok.

Don't forget the shocks and suspension. They kept you going down the road.

Running E-load 285/70/17 ride is a little more stiff, but not bad.

Just got the C rated Ko2s and I think my ride quality has jumped over the Kevlar wranglers. No noise at all and a smooth ride. I mainly stay 90% on the road and thr C Rated ko2s are perfect

Get E rated tires for the longevity and durability. You drive a truck stop chasing .5 mpg and softer rides. Tires are quiet and are not noticeably stiff to me run 42 psi in the front 40 psi in the rear. The truck is racked 1.25" loaded with 300 lbs of armor. Ride will change significantly stiffer if you run a leveling kit so keep that in mind when taking peoples opinions into consideration.

FWIW I had KO2's on 2 previous vehicles, on my 17' DCSB OR I changed the stock tires to General Grabber AT2's; 245/75-16, they're E tires, I run them about 41 psi. The truck seems to ride soft to me, but then my previous vehicle was a JKU Rubi that rode like a skateboard. Not really sure about any mpg change with the AT2's, because I changed the tires almost immediately.

    Welp, I'm getting KO2 E-Load range tomorrow.

Somehow I'm getting them from the dealer for hundreds less than anywhere else because (even the E's) are now considered "Program Tires" at Toyota, and they're putting them on as OE,

    Mostly stuff I built.
Be sure to chalk test them to get your air pressure correct for the weight of your truck. Mine look the best at 45 psi cold but my truck is a heavy pig.

Tell me more about this, since at that price the wife can't say no. Or at least she won't get a chance to unite after I come home with them. Are you doing 265/70/16s or 265/75's?

Alright well the KO2's are on. ~38ish PSI, seem well balanced. got up to 55-60ish MPH for a few seconds, no immediate huge increase in road noise noticed, but definitely stiffer (but not horribly) than the stock tires. I will have a more extended test tomorrow on the highway for road noise but I'm hopeful at this point.

Left the mechanic--had all four of my LT285/70/17s set at 26psi. After chalk test the front proved perfect and I dropped the back to 23psi to get a little better ware line. Does anyone think this low??? Rides great....think I'm gonna take it for the right PSI....thoughts?

I did the chalk line test....wore perctely at 26 in the front (where the mechanic set it) and I lowered them to 23 in the back and they wore almost perfectly....rides great. The Tacoma is light......what are you basing your 35psi on? How is your wear? Also I'm running 285s not 275s--may have a load diff big enough perhaps? Have you done the chalk test?

I've got 265/70R16 E-rated. BFG customer support recommends running them at 50 PSI for both on-road and off. Ride is super harsh at that level.

I've been experimenting with running as low as 38 psi for daily needs, but as of right now I'm settling around 43, 44 PSI. Running it at 38 or 39 PSI makes the truck too sluggish IMHO, and seemed to be hurting my MPG quite a bit.

Off roading 39-41 works well, but next time I'm going to drop it to 35-36.

I am in Phoenix and keep waiting for the OEM Goodyears to pop so I can get a kitchen pass to buy new tires. No such luck. I offroad several hundred miles per month on average here in the desert and up on the rim on unmaintained forest and ranch roads. I also spend a considerable amount of time on San Carlos back country up near the black river and point of pines on some pretty gnarly stuff--scouting for guide trips and training hunting dogs. If I get new tires they will be C duratracs as that is what I've ran in the past and had best luck with in those few instances that we are out there in the mud or on snowy/wet pavement, they have been superior to the KO2s in my experience. E-rated are not necessary for this truck in my experience. C's will hold up just fine from my experience.

Bigger tires don't require as much air to carry the same weight.
Chalk test does not account for dynamic loads on the tire.
I inflate by GVWR. 3rd gens requires enough pressure to attain a load capacity of 2,149 lbs for P tires and 1,954 lbs for LT tires; regardless of size.
