Long story short got stuck on the beach in the middle of the night in marsh like sand covering 3/4 of my tires. Crawl control was my only option and it worked like a charm. Besides a few scratches to my rims its a small price to pay instead getting washed out to sea. Has anybody had any similar experiences? Good or bad?

I've only used it to climb up a hill when the stock Goodyears start slipping. Its a pretty cool feature to have.

The crawl feature didn't work for me in red clay soupy mud.
Seriously though anything other than large MT tires (or a good samaritan Jeep with a strap ;)) was not getting me out that day. The feature does work in sand and lose gravel though.

I don't have it on mine. But, seems it would need some sort of traction to work. Other than that you better have momentum on your side.

I have never been in a position to need to use it. I've only ever tried it for shits and giggles. It seems like it would be nice to descend steep slopes.

The rear locker has saved me though.

given from factory the gearing isn't the greatest in 4lo, should be good for hill decent. I haven't actually used it yet but will soon.

ALl i did was in february during a snow storm used it on my street just to see what it does. Moved about 6meters then turned it off and parked lol.
I wish the MTS was available in 4hi as well though. The snow/mud feature would be great

Worked great when I decided to stop in the middle of a loose rock filled river crossing

The one and only time I tried it, I was up to the rocker panels in thick clay mud and it kept digging me further down just like I did myself with the throttle. Had to get recovered eventually.

Yes on sand. 1st I tried 4lo and I can feel it starting to sink.. Turn on crawl and it glides over it like butter!

I have something called first gear. I don't need this crawl control.

But if u did. On the manual transmission. Hit the clutch override switch and put in first gear. Turn key. Same as crawl.

Crawl didn't help me when I was stuck in mud down to the frame last weekend though haha..Used it going down a hill. I was sliding down with my stock tires without it.

    BUT AT WHAT COST?

Srs, I don't trust that shit to not burn up my starter motor at all. 4L first gear all day. You have to TRY to stall that. Although all of these solutions still suck if you don't have any traction

I can't say that it ever saved my life but I use it for going down rough, steep trails. Like cruise control at 2 mph. I haven't gotten stuck badly enough to try it out for that purpose.
