Oh, has Toyota finally released an OEM unit for the Tacoma? Do you have a part number handy?

I can ask my dealership if you haven't looked into it - they offered it to me last week with the rest of their products (ie steps, tonneau, etc) when I bought my truck. I didn't care to spend the money yet.

It'd be interesting to see. Some dealers just farm out an aftermarket install, and I've seen a couple install a Camry or Tundra unit into the Tacoma. Never was able to get details as to how it was done though. Functionality is the same as the DEI DBALL2 in terms of the truck shutting off when the door is opened.

Not possible. It's a built in feature by Toyota.

Point index finger in a forward motion. Press button.

It is not a big deal.

Crazy how many times that question gets asked lol

Even if the remote start didn't stop when you opened the door, it would stop when you press your foot on the brake so no matter what, you're restarting your truck once you get in. I rather have to do that than not have a warm or cool truck when I get in

So after a long mental battle whether I should do it or (my truck is only a week old), I finally got it all in... OK, I got it installed... And It Works!
Big thanks to @GoGoStAm for his humongous picture heavy write up , @nickj718 for his VERY helpful video, and my lovely wife for mental support (not nagging for couple of hours, lol).
Thanks @KB Voodoo for putting together this very neat kit, your instructions, including quick and easy programming sequence (it actually doesn't say anywhere on the instructions to press lock 3 times to remote start, lol).
Very happy with having this feature!

@KB Voodoo can you PM me the install instructions? I've got some other things I need to install in that area and might just do this along with it

Has anyone from AZ bought this? Im debating on getting this. I would really only have a practical use for this in the HOT Arizona summer to help cool down the truck. My hesitation is, how much cooler will the truck get from the distance the remote is capable of and me walking to the truck. If that makes sense. Basically i would like a way to cool the truck before i get in it.

Or if anyone thats bought this and your summer gets 100+ degrees, your input is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Any special programming instructions @KB Voodoo needs to complete before placing an order for remote start DBALL2? OR are all kits ready upon shipment for the smart start add-on unit?
