Read through some of the reviews some of you have done, which was very helpful. Looking for something that is easy to install (preferably that uses our bed rail system). I am leaning towards a folding, hard cover.

Here are the ones I am interested in hearing good and bad about.

    Gator FX Tonneau Cover
    Extang Solid Fold 2.0
    UnderCover Flex Tonneau Cover
    Rugged Premium Hard Fold
    BAKFlip G2

Or any other type that maybe similar. Would love to see pictures of them installed on your Tacoma and your experiences.

    Thanks,

    Ryan

I have the Rugged on mine and really like it, now that I corrected the botched dealer install.

Does it use the bed rack system to install? What did they botch and how did you fix it? Does it leak much? Looks great!

Yep, uses the factory bed rack system. Regarding the botched install, they did not properly run the dust seal over the bedliner at the front of the tonneau, but rather left it curled under, which caused the tonneau near the cab to be raised. When I got home, I wasn't happy with the fit, so I went online and looked at the installation guide, and noticed what they had done wrong. Took me 10 minutes to fix it. You can see the seal in one of the pictures. I haven't had an opportunity to check its water tightness, but there's a rubber seal under each hinge, and it fits pretty tightly, so I'd say it going to be pretty weather tight, but not completely waterproof. I think you'd need to go with a solid fiberglass bed cover to get a truly waterproof solution, but I think they look kind of grandpa...:D

The undercover Flex is what i use, great product has held up nice. only issue is that the mounting covers the bed rails. If you use them might want to look at Bakflip i think the rails stay open with that one.

What are the Cubes hanging down from the cover for?

Yeah, I think they use the same brackets for the bed rail, and the bed rails attach to that bracket so you can still use them.

Those protect/secure the panels when you fold them over. They clearly state the warranty will be voided in they're removed.

I just got the Foldacover G4 Elite and I like it so far. It uses the track system. It has 4 sections so you have more access to the bed, it has locks, you can access the front of the bed and it can be removed.

BAKFLIP MX4 right here, works with Toyota bed extender as well. It lets you keep the factory rails though moves them down a bit (bracket for doing so included). Pretty water tight though not guaranteed to be. Ran it through a heavy duty car wash today and barely saw anything in there. Make sure you get MX4 or you can't open / shut the tailgate without opening the bakflip first.

I have the 250$ Gator and love it so far. You can stick a knife thru it so the security is limited but for what I need it for I really like it!

I just purchased the Bakflip G2 and really like it. I had a Bak Roll-X on a tundra but like this G2 even better. The G2 can be partially opened when driving and can be removed in a few minutes. I'm putting in a pop & lock and then I'll be in business.

I went with the undercover Flex Ultra. It has a matte finish which I like a lot better than the shiny covers and it's flush with the bed rails. Those two things were a big deal to me. Plus, when you fold it all the way up you have access to your entire bed and it has the ability too attached vertically up out of the way so that it's not leaning on your bed. I think overall it's the best bang for the buck, highest quality, most secure and best looking cover available.

Contact AutoAnything and chat with them and talk them down, you can get it for close to $900-929 shipped (Ultra, not the regular flex). Great company with great customer service.

Have you had it slide around at all on you? Mine slides. And when driving down bumpy dirt roads, it totally fell "off", but stayed in the bed. Ended up losing a barrel nut in the process that I got replaced. They also sent me new front attachments with safety straps to keep it from falling totally off truck. I liked it at first, but how it doesn't stay put scares me. I had the Rugged soft on my old truck and it was rock solid for those ~7 yrs. That's why I went Rugged again.

Bottom line, I can't recommend the Rugged II cover just yet. And yes, my flap was curled out, not under.

My understanding is it is kinda of a pain compared to aftermarket. Hard to remove, seals are so so, and it is more expensive. I like the looks of it though and would not be 100% against if I could snag one for a decent price. Do you have thoughts on the OEM one?

Very easy to remove. Only one bolt if you need to take it off. Not the best seal though

Bakflip G2 is the way to go IMO. I've had it for a bit and love it. The only thing I'd change would be the ability to close the tail gate without having to lift up the tonneau first.
