My 2004 Tacoma is stuck in Park. I've been using a small screw driver in order to bypass what may be the brake light switch allowing me to start in Neutral. I've checked the fuses. I believe my issue is with the brake light switch. also brake lights not working, even though I have replaced all brake related fuses. My issue is I can not see where the switch is in the truck.
I know it has to be behind the pedal. Any help to let me know where to look ?

You're using a screwdriver to bypass the shift lock? Do you have to unlock your steering wheel, or does it unlock automatically?

Unrelated, but I noticed you put Electric Windows and Door Locks in your mod section. Did you convert from crank windows and manual locks?

The brake switch is near the top of the pedal 'arm'. Kinda hard to see.
Might not be the problem, though. It could be the shift-lock solenoid, by the shifter.

If you have no brake lights to. I'd bet it's the switch or no power to the brake switch.

My truck got stuck in park after installing an elocker rear end and wiring it direct to a dpdt switch. Not sure if getting stuck in park was related to wiring or not I have been using the little white switch behind a removable panel next to the gear selector to get truck out of park for a couple years. Need to look into replacing the shift lock solenoid but I only drive truck a couple times a month. Interested to see how this is done and cost.

Steering does not lock. I converted and installed the electric windows and a key fob to auto lock/unlock the doors. No problem with them. Bought the after market kits on e-bay. Simple to follow you tube video. Hardest part was pushing an additional handful of wires through the grommet between the door and body.

I can get to the shifter solenoid easy enough. Ill check that out today, but will there still be the issue of no brake lights?
