Ford removed the drivers side handle on the F150 a few years back. Then they re-introduced them again in the 2015 models.

driver side doesn't need one cause when your fuckin sending it you should be grabbing the wheel. your passengers don't have a steering wheel to hold onto so there for the oh shit handle was invented.

You'll see the handle missing on the A pillar because during test crashing dummies are getting seriously damaged from them you'll also see it missing on the tundra and Silverado.

Ever been wheeling at Rausch creek. I rode with @Subway4X4 and he had the left hand on the steering wheel an the left on the oh shit handle. Asked him why and he said he had better control. Hope he chimes in here.
And yes my 07 had them on both. It did help my wife get in when she stepped up on the running boards. She's 4'11. So I don't know why it isn't there.
Has anybody taken off the cover to see if the bolt holes are there?

Just some good natured ribbing :D
Since for whatever reason there is no driver seat map pocket, it's a great place to hide stuff that doesn't exist.

It's hard for me to remember what my truck looked like inside as Toyota has had it impounded since May 18th, 2017.
Transmission leak recall. Can't remember if it had map pockets.

In the 2nd Gen there's a map pocket in the driver and passenger. Now just the passenger.

Ouch, sorry to hear that. After that long I'd have trouble remembering what color it is.

Using the grab bar gives me better control of the vehicle because:

    1. I dont have a death grip on the steering wheel. Actually, I have a very light open palm touch of the steering wheel because of the extreme rock/boulder/tree stump/deep drops at Rausch. My thumbs and fingers are nowhere near the inner spokes of the steering wheel. I like to keep my digits intact so I can play the violin with reasonable aplomb.

    2. I tend to bounce around inside the truck in extreme terrain and slide around in extreme off-camber situations, even with seatbelt securely fastened. I guess I don't have a fat enough ass to keep me between the seat bolsters. Holding onto the grab handle keeps me centered on the seat.

    3. Holding onto the grab bar keeps me from sticking my entire arm out of the open window. There's a video of a TW member that fractured his arm when he stuck his arm out his window and stiff-armed a tree. It looks pretty painful, and I hate pain.

Not saying my way of steering and using the grab handle is the best way. Just saying it's the best way for ME in the terrain that I most frequent.

When I wheel in wide open, non-technical trails, I use a much different approach.

They eliminated it for a couple years on the 1st Gen and then put it back, I am expecting them to add it back again on a future 3rd Gen.

On my 17. There isn't one on the driver side. So I thought hey if they bring it back I'll add it. But nope I took off the driver panel and there is only 1 bolt hole. So it won't accommodate the handle.
