Who ever set up the engine on the 3rd Gen V-6 had little care about oil changes.
The skid plate is right in the way.
After you remove it an it's bolts up under the front spoiler.
You need the hokie $35.00 filter wrench from
Toyota. Last but not least you remove the filter plug first only to have to stick in the
handy drain that there is no way to do it with out getting oil all over.
Complete Idiot set up. Thanks Toyota!

Just another reason why I love my 4 banger and the simple toyota filter underneath along with my lovely Fumoto Valve. It's nice not having to use any tools to do a oil change!

Or just buy the Pro skid plate which has a removable door?

Still need a spin on. I don't think the 3.5 is better than the 4.0.
Mileage is better from the 6 speed vs 5. Engine is weak down low as well.
Forget the 4 and I still need a v8 (GMC) for the boat.

You don't need the plate off to have room. You just open the door, get a toyota filter cap and wrench it out.

Or just take it to the dealership. I have the 2.7 and it works for me. No oil on anything. :)

Yeah I've yet to figure out how not to make a mess. Seriously considering the Fumoto valve.

NO you have to spin the plug out first and stab the little gismo in to drain it.
Otherwise you really will have oil all over. They should have used a spin on. They really dropped the ball on this engine. With that plate on there is no way with out oil down your arm
