With my past last minute work schedule i often found myself doing trails alone since nobody could dip out at the last minute.

I've got more recovery gear than most people and am not too proud to stop and turn back if something looks too sketchy. Based on the videos, write ups, pictures of the trail; it doesn't look too challenging other than a few switchbacks. Obviously snow would change that but that's where turning back comes in.

As far as day... No idea. My schedule is open other than

 

Yeah...doesn't matter how much recovery gear you have if you can't use it though. There is NOTHING to winch off of there. Nothing.

If you screw up. You're walking out to cell service a LONG ways haha but yes, the trail is easy, its the switchbacks that aren't. I haven't been on it in 3 years and the last time i was there it was getting pretty tore up again.

Are you going to try it from the top down or the the bottom up? There will be gates at just the switch backs alone so you could end up driving the 18 miles up top to the switch backs and have to turn around...that is if there ares snow drifts and downed trees in the way to make it that far. I know at the top of the switchbacks there is a spot that a huge snow drift forms and takes a while to melt off.

Should have cell service in the park at certain spots and in Cooke City. PM me when you think you're gonna go do it. might be able to join you and if not, least im in the area to come help if shit hits the fan.

Honestly @aero3685 if i had the choice, id go do Goose Lake. Its just north of Cooke city and it should be open right now and a few weeks ago was almost passible to get the whole thing done. But that whole area has several short side roads that are awesome to explore. And Goose is gorgeous. Bit funner of a drive too i think. If you're alone, that would be a better choice trail wise i think.

In Lander now thinking about checking out the sinks canyon area. Wanted to get up to kirwin but it might be as bit of a drive if i go south and want to end up in the tetons.

 

Kerwin is pretty far out of your way. Two days easily.

 

I wonder how the 4.7 compares to my old 4.0.

 

More torque. Same power. The 2uz is a killer motor.

 

I had a buddy who had a similar model and I remember it being nice. That is something I should look into tho, the biggest reason I am talking myself out of a tacoma again is I really want v8 power. Especially down here.

wonder what the boost potential is? I seem to recall their not being alot of aftermarket support for it?

 

There was a trd blower. But super hard to find. Good news is the 3uz has a lot of support and it's the same intake manifold so any 3uz blower will bolt on.

 

Hmmm boost would eventually be a must. Honestly if that was a 4 door I would be super tempted. I am kinda partial to all the room at the moment even though its just me and the dog so I don't "need" it.

Interesting article if its all true showing the promise of that motor. No VVTI-i on that year, so less power, but possibly more potential for boost?

 

this is all assuming I was ready to pull the trigger on something, but I am to hesitant to do anything still lol.
