What assurances (if any) did they give you that they will really, actually expedite it, or did you get the feeling they were just blowing you off?

The email I sent to the CEO generated a phone call from corporate but no assurances. They magically appeared today at my dealer via UPS when I proved that I could get a bag of 10 drain / fill plug gaskets from Amazon tomorrow.

So, because I honestly do not know...is it better to take the chance on driving the vehicle and letting the rear diff completely fail and have it towed to nearest dealer and have it replaced, or have it grounded while you drive a Rav 4 waiting for a gasket.....

I walked/drove out of my second scheduled 10K appointment today, again, as a result of them possibly grounding my truck...btw, no waiver signed and slight weep.

I have a 4 wheel drive trip coming up, no Toyota dealers around for miles and starting to wonder....nevermind the CSP sensor recall...was also told there are at least 15 recalls on the Taco by the SA....o_O

If you have time to waste, go over to the 2nd gen forums and look at frame rust recall. 146 Pages started back in 2013

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/frame-rust-recall.263311/#post-6440060

Toyota first started a voluntary one a few years ago on rust belt truck (areas where they put salt down) That was some what initiated by a big class action brought against them. Before that happened Toyota basically said F!@#$ to the owners of rusted out destroyed trucks. Once the class action got their attention, they decided in good faith to do a service campaign on the Rust belt trucks. Well the ordered frames as trucks failed the inspection. The frames were so bad, that the test was to tap a ball pin hammer, and if if went through the frame the took your truck as it was unsafe to drive. But they took their sweet ass time ordering frames. I had this on my 2nd Gen, took 9 months! others waited 11, 13 and 16 months!!!! And they did a shitty job, that is why I got the Turd Gen.

Well the class action was finally settled at the beginning of this year that Toyota agreed to replace all frames on 2nd Gen Toyota and Tundras that had bad frames. They also have to pay customers who previously on their own dime got them fixed. Literally thousands of trucks had to have frames replaced at a cost of 16K, if you do the numbers Toyota probably broke even after all the rusted out frames that had to be replaced.

The Judge in the case is supposed to either approve or reject the settlement this month. SO letters to the 2nd Gens will be going out this month or later.

This is estimated to cost Toyota 3.6 billion dollars, so yea they are making the stuff now on the ultra cheap

    So here we go again.

VERY interesting that they used 75-90 oil instead of the 75-85 GL5 the manual calls for.

Toyota, Let's go places... like to court with another class action suit. I can honestly see it going that way, given how this whole issue has been mishandled from the start. Ordering parts on a case by case basis is some some of the worse bean counter BS I've seen.

I got lucky. I called and spoke to the service mgr and said that taking away my work truck and sticking me with a Yaris is a slap in the face. Been driving a Dodge Ram 1500 rental since. It's been 6 weeks so far. BTW..I put up with the Yaris for a week before they upgraded me.

Got the call that parts are in for 7 of 70 trucks, I'm #2 so they asked to bring it in asap, I will be in a loaner for a week because they still need to paint 2 scratches that I pointed out to them after they held my truck for 43 days, works out because I'll be going on a road trip this weekend lol

Would it be ok if you sent me a copy of that email? Otherwise, i'd most likely say something like "what the fuck were you thinking?!"

Later this morning, i will be driving the camry i was loaned out and be switched to a rav4 (again), making it my 3rd rental since may 4th. I am definitely wanting to have a word with the service manager as i had been told "5 of 6 parts have come in", which was 2 weeks ago.

Does anybody want to share what sort of questions of comments i can tell him to expedite the process?

Holy cow I can't believe some of you have been waiting almost 2 months to get your truck back.:mad:.

Anyone have luck getting Toyota to cover the payments for the time that the truck was held hostage?

I can't believe some of you guys let your dealership take your truck. I have a good relationship with my service manager. Told him it was leaking months ago, he said he'd let me know when it was time. He called me today to bring it in, have it verified and ordered parts, sent me on my way. Will call when parts in.

My question is, if you have already talked to a service writer, they know it's leaking, why can't they just order the parts and you bring the truck back when they are in?
