Also, if you don't need an aggressive AT tire but want a tough one that doesn't weigh a ton, the Michelin AT2 can't be beat. Their E rated tire in a 265/75/16 only weighs 47 pounds and they are great tires. I had a set on my second gen and even though they were at best a light AT tire, they surprised me in the mud for what they were. They are also the only tire I know of made from a one piece mold as opposed to being sectioned together like other tires from several different sections. Good tires but pricey as all Michelins are.

Its just bad luck with road debris bud. Lots of summer construction going on around here with sharps left all over the road.

Discount tire does free repairs at many locations if you've bought from them before, FYI. Just watch for the upsell.

I drive on mountain roads, with crushed rock, several times a week for my job. When I got my new Taco I immediately drove it down the street to my local tire store (Les Schwab) and had them remove the 4 ply -street tires' and Install some 10 ply Toyo AT's. Nails and screws are going to happen to anyone, but rock penetration can be avoided. Toyota should be ashamed for selling any 4x4 with P-Rated Tires !! Clay

5 flats in a year!!!! Holy cow!!! I haven't had 5 flats in 45 years of driving! You either have the worst luck, drive on the worst roads on planet earth or seriously need to get tank treads installed! Good luck with whatever tires you end up with.

No it's not. Rock gashes on at least 2 and a third was "unknown". Only 2 flats due to screws.

Ended up going with the Cooper Discoverer AT3 w C load rating. $165/ tire. Fucking $975 since I had to get a new spare too due to the size increase. Fucking sucks. Wasn't expecting to get new tires for another year or two. Last gash was unrepairable and all 4 had been repaired so I figured it's time.

Ouch! Hope they work out for you! Here's the treads I mentioned, lot more than new tires though!

You got a good tire, OP. It still sucks that you had to get them so soon. Best of luck to you!

    Lots of sail boat fuel
That's what a lot of the Vermont guys I've met run too. They seem to like them in snow and mud.

Ahahaha! I feel like a toothpick puncture would be unrepairable on the stock Goodyears!

Just got my second flat in six months on the stock GoodYear tires. First was a nail and was patched by the dealership. Second is TBD. No significant off road driving. I suppose it's just bad luck considering every main road in So CA is either potholed or under repair and every corner has new condo/apartment construction?

My last truck I had for 16 years and had maybe one flat on BFG Rugged Trails or maybe it was the Bridgestone Duelers. WTF.

As I said back in July of 2017.....Toyota should be ashamed for putting P-Rated tires on a truck. But they are likely figuring they can save money based on the fact that most Taco owners only drive on pavement. Wonder how many buyers look- carefully- at the tires on their new truck and get past the fancy lettering and aggressive tread to actually read what's on the sidewall? As for a Screws...A good screw (if there is such a thing) hitting at the proper angle will puncture a very good tire. Clay
