Hope I'm not violating any rules here. Just have a couple of questions about the diffs on my 06 TRD Off road. Are the front and rear diffs both electric? I'm thinking they are, however, the only reason it can be done on the fly is because the front isn't a locker, it's more like a limited slip; and of course it's tying in the transfercase as well. Also, I'm thinking of installing an ARB in the front diff, this way I will have a locker in the front and the stock e-locker in the rear. Does anyone know how strong the e-locker is and who makes it? Thanks for your replies. Les

The only thing electric is the actuator for the rear locker and front ADD actuator.

Hmmm, sorry to ask but what's the ADD actuator? Have not read a thing about it in my books.

Yeah, I just found it in my manual. I must of been nodding off and missed it. It also mentions driving the vehicle in H4 for at least 10 miles a month to keep the front axle's lubed up. It would be a good thing to do in the rain. Feel funny about operating it on dry pavement.

Straight line driving you're fine in theory. Just don't turn (especially tight turns) in 4x4 unless on terrain that provides little grip.

Yep. Straight line on the highway if you really need to, switch to 2wd before turns. Or find some dirt/gravel roads.

Yeah, I'll have to do something cause I don't know the area all that well yet, and finding dirt roads long enough to use it for 10 miles as it suggests is a chore in this neck of the woods. It's all Mountains with plenty of turns and haven't been in contact with enough people to know where to go yet. I work a lot of hrs. too, which puts a damper on things as well. Thanks again, for the reply.

Hi guys!! First question ever posted. Sorry if it's in the wrong thread! New here, but anywho... I recently bought 2015 dclb 4x4 and found out that they replaced the rear axle with a 4x2 model due to an accident. Would this work with a 4x4 trd sport??

Thanks for the quick response silverspool! I was almost hesitant to ask, being my first ever post. So I shouldn't be concerned?

Do you know what year 4x2? 05-08 got mechanical LSDs. If you look at the axle, see if there is a sticker that says LSD. If so, its an older axle, if not its a proper axle. Either are fine really.

The only info I have is a receipt from some of the repairs. It says REAR AXLE ASS. 08 Int. 58909D 4x2, Pre runner w/o diff lock ; 3.58 gears

3.58? Someone may need to chime in here but i thought v6 has 3.73 and 4cyl has 4.10. The 3.58 is for the 5 lug 4 banger, i think. Maybe they replaced the axle shafts and housing but kept your third member with 3.73/4.10s

@jberry813 @hoarder23 either of you guys know?

That's just what I read off of the receipt from a wrecking yard they bought from a wrecking yard out of San Diego. This exactly why I am asking you guys. Idk if the receipt is written up wrong or....? There is no tag on the pumpkin and I can barely make out the raised numbers on it

For the most part it looks fine, the gears concern me. Have you driven it in h4 yet? If there was a gear mismatch your tcase would probably explode almost immediately. If not, youre fine

Im no expert, so i could complety wrong. Its best you not weigh to heavily on my words.
