Tire size - what should fit

Looking for input from others experience with the same set up as to what Tire size I can get away with as I save up for new tires, possibly rims. As for now I am looking at the Falken Wildpeak A/t3w just because of the price. I drive on pavement 90% of the time as this is a daily driver. I hardly ever off road. So MPG is a bit of a factor but willing to lose a tiny bit to have tires that make the truck look better.

The truck has the following, otherwise stock.

2017 TRD OR DCSB
1" front lift to level the truck
16" Pro comp wheels with 4.5in bs and 0mm offset

Currently running the stock 265/70/16 tires. They just seem too small and make the truck look funny with these rims.

I may get different rims when I do tires, just depends on if 17"s are needed or not.

 

Falken Wildpeak AT3 265/75/16 should fit right on there with no issues. You may have to lose your front mudflaps. They are only about 1.5" taller than the ones you have but the aggressive style makes them look much bigger. Here they are on my '07



There's no need to buy new rims if you are happy with the ones you have

 

The rims I have are just "ok" I got the pro comp 89's, they just seem to lack eye catching ability, kind of bland. In the future i really want to put a pair of bronze rims on to go with the quicksand. But for now the matte black work fine.

as for width, should I go up a size or will that cause issues? wish 275 was not so hard to find.

haha thats where I am currently shopping. hard to beat those prices. the nearest actual store is about 2.5 hours from me, i may make a drive over and look some over in person, perhaps they will let me fit a few sizes.

 

I never even considered a different size so that's your call. You may have rubbing issues with wider tires which may require chopping and banging.

 

i feel going any wider will tank my mileage too much. K02 comes in a 275/75 but they are 250ish per tire, and thats a no go for me. 285 I feel will rub, but may not with the 4.5bs and 1in front lift. curious if anyone else has the same mods and can verify?

 

No need to change rims.

A 265/75/16 is 1" taller than what you have, not 1 1/2", but is the same width. You can run that size with or without a lift with the fewest issues. That is what I run on my unlifted truck. No noticeable loss of power or fuel mileage in my truck. In fact most of the time I've found 265/75's cheaper than 265/70's. There are far more options for 265/75's as well. The key is to not go with a heavy true mud tire. Any P series AT type tire should work just fine for you.

If you go any taller or wider you may have to do more mods to the truck including possibly re-gearing and fuel mileage will take a hit.

 

sounds like that size is a fit for me then. ill do some more research on brands, but so far leaning towards the falkens. I have found some nittos that look great as well.

 

I assume ill need the E rated?
