What's the consensus on the mudflaps? I had two Toyota 4x4's that had them, a 1992 4Runner and a 1993 Land Cruiser but they were much smaller and didn't drag much. They don't stick out (like a sore thumb) as much on a black Tacoma but these things are HUGE.

I would like the protection in the winter.

+70hp, +70ft/lbs. With the 2.85 pulley you are looking at about +90hp, +90ft/lbs. The TRD supercharger was an OEM offering and even covered under the drivetrain warranty if installed by a dealer, zero problems. The Magnuson unit is the same minus the logo, but comes with an aftermarket programer where as OEM used a TRD ECU reflash at the dealer. The Bullydog programmer has had many complaints. You can get the Magnuson supercharger without the programmer and then get the OEM ECU TRD reflash at Toyota, which actually saves hundreds of dollars. If you do the smaller pulley and have a manual, you may need to upgrade your clutch, as the stock unit can have difficulty holding the power. The auto can manage it fine.

The stock flaps are terrible. I went with shorter flexible Rokblokz.

I have an "off road" 2015 DCSB. I got it for 29500 in NC in April. It is the perfect one that I wanted. It has 285's on it, tow package, I love it!!!!!

One week in the books and so far, so good. I love driving it and my wife even commented it is her favorite of all the vehicles I have owned. She ordered me a set of Rokblokz. Hopefully soon I'll have a chance to swap out the flaps and see how they look. Thanks all, for the comments and information.

Last month I bought a '15 AC SR5 with tow package for $27,500 - lease vehicle turn in. Would have loved to get a '15 AC OR w tow but couldn't find one.

I first started out by trimming my mud flaps. But they still looked like snow shovels back there. So I just took unscrewed them off and replaced the bolts. They do help by not getting mud all over the truck, but suck when trying to do drive off road because they scrape the dirt from the low ground clearance.

First tank of gas. 17 mpg. 307 miles, 18 gallons, 2 weeks. All city driving. Not as good as I hoped but better than expected.
Not sure what was in it for gas from the dealer. I only use non-ethanol blends in my cars. Just filled up with 87 octane regular.

I purchased my 2015 DCSB off-road from a used car dealer in central Ohio in February for $29,950, before tax/title/docs. Extras include bed extender, tow package. It was a total cream puff with 5,900 miles and not a single mark on it. No trade-in. It was not Toyota pre-owned, which didn't make a difference to me considering the low miles and condition.

Wow! Sounds like a good deal.

I have had my truck for 5 weeks and already had a flat and someone back into me. Got it back from the collision center on Friday and looks good as new with a lifetime guarantee. Luckily the fella that backed into me admitted fault and it was all taken care of quickly. His insurance company, Nationwide, was phenomenal to work with. I had my repairs scheduled the same day I got hit.

Love the truck. Drives great in all conditions and so much nicer to drive than the 2016-17's. I hope Toyota gets that straightened out. Getting 18+ mpg in town and 20-21 on the highway. Very happy with the mileage in town. Was hoping for 22+ on the Interstate.

Glad you like the truck and sounds like you made a good conscious decision. I owned a 2017 Tacoma TRD OR and wished I payed more attention to the shifting issues like you did. Sold it and bought a 2014 TRD OR.
Toyota really needs to adjust the low end power, gearing, and software with the new Tacomas. Loved the look and tech, but hated driving it everyday.
My 2014 shifts great and has the get up and go like I wanted. It's unfortunate that the new Tacoma owners are having to look into all this aftermarket shift controllers and retuning. All things that will potentially affect warranty. Plus, we have a supercharger option =).

Sorry to hear about your recent issues, but sounds like they've been resolved.
I hear it very often from new Tacoma owners here (Hawaii, and you know there's a lot here) that they hate the power of the new 3.5's. Don't get rid of your 2015.

I absolutely agree with your assessment. If I end up passing my 2010 Taco along to my son I will be in the market for a 2015 not a turd gen.

2 years and about 19,000 miles into ownership of the 2015 Tacoma TRD OR DC I have a few complaints. Engine is kinda noisy at startup until the idle settles. It has a tick that has been talked about. Some sort of amplification that has a home remedy I have not done. Whatever that sucking sound is shortly after startup and shutdown,... hate that. Also upon startup sounds like a noisy pulley for a few minutes then the noise goes away. Transmission is whiny when cold. Exhaust from the tailpipe is discoloring the chrome bumper and rear quarter. The heater is not very warm in the extreme cold of Nebraska winters and the cabin feels drafty. The a/c is not very cold in the heat of summer. Lots of rattles and clunks from underneath driving in town on the awful, potholed and chunked up roads of Omaha. All of these issues are fairly minor but were not present on any of my many former Toyotas or two Toyotas I currently own, a 2011 Rav4 V6 with 95,000 miles and a 2004 4Runner Sport with 205,000. All in all I am somewhat disappointed that Toyota quality has gone downhill over the years. I won't buy another Tacoma unless they can improve the quality and performance. That being said I am in no hurry to get rid of this one. I owned a 1993 Land Cruiser for 9.5 years and never had any of the quality issues I have noticed from this rig. 22 years difference. My Toyota mechanic even said to me "Toyota is not what they used to be but still better than all others".

"All in all I am somewhat disappointed that Toyota quality has gone downhill over the years."

Ditto on that, my wife and I jumped ship this year after 30+ years of owning Toyotas:

1985 Corolla sedan (305k miles when sold)
1989 Celica GT (410k miles when sold)
    1991 Cressida (185k)
    1994 Corolla wagon (220k)
    1998 RAV4 (235k)
2003 Highlander V6 (with brake light and vehicle stability system electrical issues at 90k miles--left her stranded in rural Georgia)
2013 RAV4 V6 4WD (very disappointing, needed new rear differential at just 80k)

We are all done with Toyota; she's got a 2013 Subaru Outback 6-banger, me a 2012 Infiniti M37 (best car I have ever owned)...

Interesting cliffyk. No complaints listed for 1,335,000 cumulative miles on the 80s and 90s Toyotas. Sounds about right. LOL!
