    Sure.

Otherwise they're unable to complete work to their property, due to residents not moving theirs.

Hence the written notification (and usually door knocking as a final attempt). Towing residents is a last resort option, for obvious reasons.

Which is why I'm saying this story doesn't make sense as it's written, and OP already decided how he was going to write it before posting it.

Take that for truth? Not me. Nothing in my actual experience tells me this is the most honest thread I've ever read. So.. whatever. I'm out.

What sucks is this morning i got up at 7 am to make sure my fiance made it to her board exam this morning. Walked her to her car my truck was still there. This morning from 8-9 am? i'm guessing there was what i assumed was a jackass honking in the parking lot. Now i can only assume they were trying to get people to move their vehicles?

Like I said i did not receive any written notification they were painting and they did not post any notification in the mail room or even on the covered car ports. When i left to run errands at 1045 I walked out to any empty lot and my truck missing. Walked around the complex to find my truck with other similar skid marks left in parking spots. My neighbor who was outside told me all of the cars got towed? So i followed the skid lines and walked around the complex.

Spoke to the leasing office and was told that notifications were left on the doors. Which neither I or my fiance received. Also told by the stupid snooty leasing office "You're lucky it wasn't towed and impounded that would be $320"

My truck is due for the 10k toyotacare, going to take it in for the oil change and have them give it a look over. As far as the alignment goes I have the lifetime alignment through firestone which ill have done this week.

Honestly i have no reason to make this shit up. I was home the entire morning and would have moved my truck if I knew. Doubt anyone here would willingly let their brand new truck be towed.

Only thing you need to worry about is rear tires with flat spots.

Whats funny is all the responses are to one side of the story. The OP could be as trustworthy as a grandma in church but... there are two sides, don't forget. Most places of business don't decide to do something like this without LOTS of notifications and plenty of time and warnings. OP, you telling the truth?

Now, if it was dragged out, the only things to check are your parking pawl and... well, that's about it. Transmission will be fine. You claim alignment but unless they hit a curb then sliding a tire won't hurt it. Flat spot on tire? Give me a break. They skidded it 20 feet. Big deal. Worse than that happens when you panic stop, even with ABS. It takes a lot to flat spot a regular tire.

So, what's left: OP, check for body damage but other than your pride being hurt there is nothing else to check. You should be fine. Pay the tow bill and next time someone warns you repeatedly to move, I would listen.

wasn't backed all of the way back, but thats what im hoping they dragged it out to put the rollers on. but they pulled it quite far still.. based on the skid marks

I can't put in print what I'd do to the towing company that did that to my truck! (some people consider arson illegal).

Appreciate the info, definitely will get the parking pawl checked. no body damage as far as i can see. Honestly, I'm not familiar with the way vehicles are towed and was helping some people from the community could chime in. not trying to make things up or stir up trouble, more so annoyed.

As far as towing bill, no fees or bill. truck was relocated to different part of my complex. Like I said at least on my apartment door, I did not receive any notifications and my car leaves the complex each day so its not like it was there for days. Also in another reply.. i heard someone honking around the complex this morning. Thought it was just some moron, I can only assume now it was to try to get people to move their vehicles..

prior to this even happening, i already plan to move at the end of the month. Thankfully at my new complex ill have a garage.

I'm surprised they actually towed it immediately like that without trying to contact you. I lived in a complex once that sent out fliers and put up no parking signs. I came home late and couldn't find a spot so I parked in one of the ones "blocked off" intending to move it really early in the morning. Completely forgot, walked out in the later morning and they had my old truck completely wrapped in plastic wrap, just painting around it.

Two questions..1. What the hell are rollers? You mean dollies or go jacks? 2. Did the truck get checked yet? Thinking worse case is you got some funky tires. They dragged it way too far, only need enough room for dollies to get to first click the pull out and pop them all the way.

Was there anything around the drag marks? I've used dish soap and diesel fuel to slid them out before. And wd40..makes a mess, but I'll get the car. So glad I don't do private property tows anymore..

After some googling it seems dollies are the proper term for what we are calling rollers lol.

Funny, how the only skid marks from a towed vehicle are OPs..

Everyone else must have got the memo.

Actually most apartment complexes put a tow clause in the lease agreement.

The liability on the complex and tow service alone makes me believe they did in fact make the legal minimum attempt to notify

OP, did your neighbors have a flier or any other notification?

Oooo man I would be SALTY. When they sealed the lots at my complex a few years ago, they had shit posted everywhere for like a month in advance. Shame on your landlord, towing like this should be an absolute last option. Definitely go after them for any damage, no matter how small.

As a tow driver you have 20 mins to call local p.d. and advise you impounded the car. Otherwise it's grand theft auto. And they don't play.
