Just finished wiring in my dashcam... But now I'm considering a hardwire cable for my GoPro. Unfortunately I cannot find any hardwire kits for type-C connectors.

Can I just get a micro-usb hardwire kit like this:

    https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00U...rdwire+kit&dpPl=1&dpID=41R6zlN7ZWL&ref=plSrch

And cut off the micro-usb end and wire in a right angle type-c connector? (This will be used only for maintaining a charge on my GoPro)

Also tried finding a thread with multiple search terms... Couldn't find anything, otherwise I wouldn't have made this pointless post haha. I like stealing power from the rearview mirror tho. Its a great source!

Make sure any usb c adapter you use has a 56k resistor. Monoprice is also a good source for cables.

I want to avoid using a Type-C adapter. Can I just cut the mini/micro usb end off and wire in a USB-C end, then safely use it to charge my GoPro?

While I don't actually know the answer, I would lean on the no side. The very very much no so you don't fry your electronics side..

Just get an adapter meant to do the job

Solved it, don't know why I didn't think of this sooner...

Anyone else having the same issue, I really think Toyota dropped the ball on this one. They should have wired in two USB ports in the headliner if they were going to go to the effort of putting a GoPro mount on the windshield....... Just a thought

That gives me a good idea. Put in some USB ports in the overhead console

I was planning to hardwire a dashcam and radar detector into a Gen3. Do you know if there is a thread or walkthru on this? I found the threads on Overhead cluster 12v ignition switched power pin outs but the more info the better to avid running into issues. Not sure how complicated it is, I'd live to create a detailed walkthru once I'm done.
