Wet Shoes

So i fell in a creek yesterday. Anybody know how to keep a pair of weat "sneaker type" shoes from stinking after they are dry? i hate to lose a good pair of shoes to the notorious "wet shoe smell"

Dry them out with a hair dryer or however you want, and then get some of those Dr. Shoals sneaker 'smell good' balls.

 

don't forget coltons balls... the most crucial part.

 

Definitely wash them with a half dose of mild detergent (remove insoles if present and wash them by hand with Woolite or similar). After that put them in the dryer if it has a shelf or take after them with a hair dryer to get the crevices dry. Then take a sack of rice and two bread bags, dump half the rice in each bag and then one shoe in each bag and tie them tightly. Come back three days later to dry, clean shoes.

I normally dry them in the dryer with a dryer sheet. Now if they were full of mud i'd throw them in the wash first.

 

+1 on this technique. Works like a charm. The rice is ket here. Ever see salt shakers in humod weather? They have rice in them. Why? Sucks the mositure up.

 

gotta lay off the doob while walking in woods.

 

sprinkle baking soda in them for a day

precisely how ya do it!

 

when my wolverines got soaked, i got a heat gun and dried as much as i could. then put some gold bond shoe powder and stuffed it with newspaper. they smell better than they did before.

 

That sounds like a statement that should end with "... but that's not saying much."

 

Thanks for the responses. there were so many i didn't know how to chose. so i went with the guy with the highest post count. my shoes are pink now....

 

Stuff them with crumpled newspaper. It pulls the water and keeps the shape of the shoes while they dry.

Let set for a day.
