Who has Wheelers Offroad 1st gen replacement leafs?

anytime. now...with that setup..on my double cab.....i got 2 inches in the front and 1 and a quarter to 1.5 in the rear.

 

Hey, so this web site says that you only need 4-6 strokes from a grease gun in the slip joint, but you packed yours full? Is the web site wrong?

Yeah, I am starting to think maybe I should get the 5-leaf, because I have the cap, and I don't know how much it weighs, but it is at least a couple hundred pounds 24/7. I'd have to go find a public scale. Then maybe get Billy 5100s up in front to level any difference. Does that sound reasonble and low-maintenance? I haven't looked into Billy 5100s yet, but sounds like they are adjustable, and that would be a key feature. Do I have this right? Yay, more money.

If I still have wrap after putting on 4-leafs, I'll be pissed. And yes, I already greased the crap out of the yoke...

 

I bought a set of replacement springs (4 leaf) from Wheelers in the summer of 07, primarily because of axle wrap and some sag from the original springs. The springs I received had a Deaver sticker on them. So I assumed the springs were made by Deaver. Did Wheelers switch suppliers? Overall I'm pretty happy with the springs I got. The axle wrap went away and it raised up the back about an inch.

 

i packed mine full so that when i put it together, it wouldnt take as long to fill it. and trust me...it takes alot more than 4 to 6 pumps of grease.

 

sounds like a good plan...especially with the cap. the 5100's are adjustable....but you may not even need them since you have the cap.

 

the 5 pack i got was made for wheelers by alcan spring. they may have changed, or have deaver make the 4 packs. not too sure.

What do you have upfront to compensate for the 1" lift you got for the rear new leaf packs?

I was able to drive down to pick up my 4 leaf replacement, and I thought the service was great! As for the ride, I haven't had any problems, but I can't say that I'm a quality source because I am not very truck knowledgeable...

I wish I had more money at the time so I could have upgraded to the 5 leaf pack, and a front suspension lift though....

 

Thanks for the feedback. Yes, I realized this might lead to a need for a little front lift. I am still in the process of figuring out stock height compared to where my recently bought used truck w/ 105K miles sits now, and then how a 5-pack on the back would change that, and then how do I get back to level in the front with minimal lift. From what I understand so far, putting the adjustable Bilstein 5100 shocks up front with the stock coils could be the simplest solution to leveling afer installing the leaf pack.

Do you have any pics of your installed 4-pack? A bunch of us would appreciate seeing it...

 

The bilstein 5100's is what their representitive recomended for me with the 5 leaf pack, I almost did it but it was a matter of cash on hand vs adding a little more on my credit card balance... hahaha I don't have any pictures currently, I tried taking some with my cell phone during the process but, they were too dark to see... I could try again, it's pretty sunny out today!

 

It's a great excuse to roll under under your truck...how can you pass it up?

 

Nothing, when I replaced the springs I did replace all the shocks, but the original springs had sagged and I think its close to or only slightly higher than when it came from the factory.

 

I will have to look into this as a replacement. I really shouldn't worry since I have coilovers up front, stock rear leafs.
