Do you have 33's already or are you buying them with the SCS wheels?
I'm running 285/75/r16s. It's a great size and you'll save money over buying a set of the equivalent size in 17 (285/70/r17). Also in 16 you can go for 255/85/r16 which is a cool size for a 33.

I'm still working on my tire size mastery. I bought the truck with 31x10.5x15 from the previous owner. Figured if I wanted to go bigger tires I should upgrade to 13wl brakes which will require bigger wheels.

I like the wider tires, 285/75/r16s look pretty good, any rubbing issues?

It's less Tacoma and more mod
You'll rub your frame at stock backspacing and have to bash in your pinch weld a decent amount. But it's doable if your changing wheels anyway.

Rubbing was definitely an issue. But it's easily solved. Pounding out the pinchweld takes a few moments. If I remember correctly you want about 3.75 inches of backspacing. A lot more than that and you'll rub worse, a bunch less than that and you should be concerned about UCA rubbing. If you're getting new wheels it shouldn't be a big deal to fit them.

Thanks for the input guys! The two sizes I'm looking at are the
    16 X 8 4.00" backspacing -12mm offset
    17 X 8.5 4.30" backspacing -10mm offset
But I've got some time to decide, my tires are still good for now.

Anyone here running the SR8's on a first gen?

That is quite the transformation! I love when someone takes the time to properly clean and polish up old paint, it always makes for a great before and after shot.

Quick question about breaking in OME lift. I bought 881 and dakar kit. According to all the specs I read I should have came out pretty much leveled. However, I'm sitting nearly 4 inches higher in the rear than front. Place I bought the lift from just said not remove any of the leafs and to put some weight in the bed and over several months it will settle some.

I guess my question is what would you do to alleviate so much rake? I'll try to get a pic today

Well bad news has arrived. As I was getting ready to mount my sliders I noticed a crack in the frame of my rig. It is in the area of where the right rear shock mounts to the frame. I'm at the dealer and they have determined it is not good and it would not pass state required inspection. The words...."frame replacement" have already come up. The service tech said they are not going to lift the truck as the last time they did with one similar it cracked the entire truck in half on the lift!!!!:fingerscrossed::annoyed::annoyed::violent::redxfall:
