    HI all... New to TacomaWorld.

I recently found a relatively local dealership that was willing to price match on 17 inch TRD wheels so I pulled the trigger and ordered a set of the stock tires (AT Adventure) in 265/70-17 from TireRack. I had the same dealership mount the tires and they let me know that they were having a really hard time getting them to balance and that they had to use quite a bit of weight to get them even close to true(6-8oz). When driving above 50mph I get a bit of shake. Also, the date codes on the tires were from 2015. I called TireRack and they said that they can ship me two additional (that they have checked to be good) tires to replace the worst two.

So my questions... Anyone else experience this with this tire? How likely is it that the dealership (small town) just messed it up/couldn't get it right? Think I should just send them all back and get some Terra Grappler G2s and save a couple hundred dollars?

    Couple pictures for fun...

they may require a Haweeka adapter/ road force balance if the rims are a lug centric type rim, if they haven't done so

Thanks! Yea, I'm going to take them to a shop with a road force/master and see if they can get them squared up. Not the best experience, I'm going to have $120+ just getting these things mounted balanced - that's if I even can...

If I do go with a different tire, what would you guys recommend for a daily driver?

I run st maxx and have been happy with them, there's lots of good choices just depends on how much ya want to spend and what you want out of your tire...

sometimes its the tires, I had firestone destination at p265/70/16 mounted on alloy TRD rims(lug centric) and they never felt right even had a road force with Haweeka, once they wore out I used Michelin LTX AT2 tire never had any issues and were smooth as silk, I think mostly its the quality of tires a lot of times as opposed to balance

Nice truck and get four new tires, not two. And, maybe a slightly more aggressive tire while you are at it! :) Also, welcome aboard!

And Michelin tires are one of, if not the only, tire manufacturers to use a one piece mold whereas others are made in sections (often several). The only issues with the Michelins are the lack of true off road tire options.

It depends on how often you will use this truck off road and then how serious you are about off roading. The Falken Wildpeak AT3W is a nice tire that has a moderate AT tread. The Cooper AT3 is a nice tire that clans out well for what it is. Toyo AT 2 is nice too. Lots of options.

Update: Apparently this dealership can't balance a tire... Some of the wheels/tires were 3-4oz off and in the wrong spots. One wheel had 4oz too much weight. Not sure what their tech was smoking.

Thanks for all the comments and help.
