Actually I think that could apply to both sides, it just depends which side of the fence you are standing on.

You are one ignorant son ***** Ill tell you what! Sit behind a desk? I may not use a rifle and put my "life on the line" the same as you, but I do my part. I dont sit at a desk. I pull long nights and hard hours sweatin balls in that engine room when its 110 degrees. I may not have taken machine gun fire but I have battled a 400 hertz distribution electrical fire. Let me break that down for you Marine...Hertz is frequency. It is used in electricity. Electricity can kill you. I put in work in this Navy. I earn every god damn cent in that shitty pay check. Laugh? Here is something you should know. We laugh at yall too. Laugh at your lack of spelling and grammar for one. Your rediculous high and tight amongst other things. Stop being so damn serious and extreme about everything. And remember jack, you are the DEPARTMENT OF THE NAVY!

    Very Respectfully!

1st: I have heard alot of racists use that line it not my fault I was raised that way, once you reach adult hood you have to take responsibility for your own actions/beliefs.

2nd: If you are a soldier it is your job to follow orders, you gave up your right to use your free will when you signed on the line, main reason why I would never serve myself.

I do appreciate the sacrifices of those who do serve this country. I am also ashamed of some of the hatred & mistreatment I have heard of that goes on in our armed forces.

When I made the statement about how we were raised, I wasn't speaking of myself directly. I was speaking generalizations. But there is some truth to the statement. Yes, we all have prejudices. Except maybe someone like the Dalai Lama.

Yes, as a soldier you follow orders but your fooling yourself if you don't think anyone who is dissatisfied with his/her working environment will put out at 100% level. If they don't like their situation they are very likely to produce only the minimum necessary.

We all appreciate the sacrifices of the Military. There is no reason for you to be ashamed for anything that happens in the military. Mistreatment happens every day in every job. Gays aren't the exception, they just happen to be the ones currently hollering the loudest. The military is no exception. A uniform doesn't mean you quit breathing.

Damn, here I was sittin fat and happy. Figured this post was winding down and someone comes in and busts my chops.
Each of us has our feelings on this issue. Good and bad, depending on where your sittin on this fence.

    Don't ask, don't tell, don't confront, and don't persue.
I don't care to know your sexual orientation&don't think gay marriage is right because of my religion, but don't care what you do or who it's done with as long as it's not a topic of discussion(with me-edit). Just voicing my opinion here.. &pretty set about it.

I get what what your saying, but nobody at any of the hospitals I have worked at to my knowledge have ever physically attacked a coworker due to their sexual orientation.

The thought that this happens in the service makes me sick to my stomach and yes a little ashamed.

I guess after the civil rights movement, women's liberation and all the progress we have made to give everyone equal rights regardless of race or religion, its hard to believe this kind of macho bullshit still exists.

I have to wonder how many of these guys so worried about gays are really a little attracted to men themselves? Seems to me if you are secure in your own sexuality who cares if another dude is looking at your cock?

There is absolutely reason to be ashamed of many things that happen in the military. It's true that while putting on a uniform in no way makes you any less human, with all that entails, it definitely puts you under closer public scrutiny, both good and bad. For the most part the American public looks at those of us in uniform to be well behaved and honorable citizens who set an example which others can emulate. Whether we admit it or not, we are held to a higher standard. Any time some scum-bag stacks a bunch of naked prisoners and takes pictures, or some officer lets such things happen in their chain of command, we should all be ashamed. Saying "we put our lives on the line for your freedom" doesn't give us a blank check to behave like animals. Is there a lot of joking and frat-like antics that go on in the military? Absolutely, and that's ok. But when that degenerates into unwelcome physical violence then it stops being ok. Its a matter of discipline. If you don't have the discipline to avoid hitting someone because he doesn't live like you, then you probably don't have the discipline to be a good soldier/sailor/airman or Marine. The military isn't any place for middle-schoolers.

ohhh...The Don't Confront Don't pursue part- People don't listen to that part. So there is a broken part to the policy.

And why is it okay for straight folks to talk about their sexual orientation but not gays?? (Unless you quash ALL discussion of weekends of drunken sex, hookers, one night stands, and couples having children??)

And my favorite argument about this topic. YOU believe it is wrong for gays to marry and YOU don't wanna hear about it....but why should what YOU want control what SOMEONE ELSE wants?? That is the essence of human rights. Protecting people from other people.

Couples having children is a little different, but talking about how raunchy the sex was making the kids isn't necessarily alright.

That's actually more complex than just human rights in my opinion. Because he said his beliefs on gay marriage are based in religion on could argue that is constitutionaly protected. But at the same time your point is valid. How do you balance both?
