I can't wait to get my hands on some of that spicy rub, id say the regular was about a 1 maybe 2 out of 10 on the heat scale. I do love spicy food though.

I was supposed to put the spicy on brisket today but couldn't find a brisket. I'm definitely going to try and at least throw it on a strip steak or something on the regular grill this week

Thanks. Both were excellent. The one picture in that quote was so fall apart tender and juicy. They were only on the smoker from 10:30 to like 2. Then wrapped and put in the oven as we had to go out for a bit.

It's a word that I use (which is probably made up ) to refer to checking the temperature. I thought your probe was in the thigh, but I think I misread the picture. Thanks for sharing you temperatures! I don't do whole birds much other than Thanksgiving. I need to get my whole chicken game up to snuff.

Edit: By the way, pic is up on FB ;).

Did 13lb of shoulder his weekend for a few other TW guys. Generally try to buy bone in but had to make due last minute. Did the larger shoulder with the rub straight but I know from cooking on it at the shop a few times that I wanted a little heavier heat profile so I added a "healthy" sprinkling of Oakridge Habanero Death Dust on top of the normal rub. All 13 lbs got eaten by about 8 people over the course of the day. Also made my own BBQ sauce and used the rub as a base with a little more Oakridge instead of my normal brown sugar/spices mix. Also turned out fantastic.

Looks great! That habanero death dust is some good stuff. I have a bag in the drawer as well.

I use mason jars to keep humidity out (less clumping) and when ready to sprinkle use this...
    IMG_2637.jpg

The width and shape makes for quick and accurate sprinkling.

@bvbull200 , does original Pitfaced rub have less salt then most rubs? Seems like it, not that it's a bad thing. Just adjusting from my normal rubs.

Both the regular and the spicy have the same salt content and I would say that it is a little less salt content than many rubs. It's hard to compare since I don't have the specifics of most commercial rubs. I will say that if you look up a recipe for a basic BBQ rub, the amount of salt is a higher proportion of the ingredients than in ours.

I know that isn't a great answer, but it's the best I got! I hope it helps!

Here is a little news on the Pitfaced BBQ front.

We are officially now Pitfaced BBQ LLC! I have submitted a request to @tcBob to see if I can get vendor status on the site. If that is approved, I will start opening up to take one-off orders rather than having to go through this group buy. This means you can order your rub when you need it at any time! At the moment, I'm working on all of the upgrades/add-ons necessary to facilitate sales through our website, but, in the interim, I'll be handling them the old fashion way through here :D.

We have a plan in place to build and maintain an inventory. To start, the regular rub will be produced at a 2:1 ratio over the spicy version, but we will adjust as necessary. No other real details, at the moment, until I see if we qualify for vendor status. I will keep you posted on that front.

There are some minor upgrades to packaging and some additional items available, too! Stay tuned.

Hell yeah ! I'll be buying more. I gave some to a buddy at work and loved it, even my Mom loves it and she doesn't like real hot stuff. So the heat level is perfect on the original rub.

I talked to the man. The vendor status is reserved for those selling automotive parts, which I can respect. I did get this thread blessed to stay open as a running sales thread, so we're good there!

As soon as we are ready with inventory and products, I will redo the OP with some non-photobucket pictures and everything. I'll archive the list that we used, then start a new one and just keep a running list that way. I think that ought to keep everything fairly organized and get everyone their rub when they want it :D.

    Thanks, everyone, for the support!

I was thinking the same thing...maybe if we post pics of us rubbing down our tacos (hehe) so @tcBob can see it's automotive related.
