How big of a mistake would I make by trading in my problem 3rd gen with a terrible diff howl for a 2011 Ford F150 FX4 Off-road that has 86k on the clock?

Things this high mileage used truck has: leafs that don't squeak, a diff that doesn't howl, a 5.0 V8, no rumble strip vibes, tons of space in the crew cab, electric adjustable seats, and it doesn't howl.

But it's pretty big, higher miles, and it's a Ford.

Oh and I'd make $10k on the deal

I was just reading about all of the complaints for the 2011 Ford F150. Google this vehicle first before doing this deal.Of course it will free up $10,000.00 for repairs!

What motor is in that? If it's the 3 valve 5.4 I would stay clear. Even ford guys that I know say those motors a crap

If you are ok going full size, I'd do it, especially since it is the V8 and not an ecoboost.

The 5.0 is solid, not sure about the rest at 86k and 6 years in you'll be coming close to some needed replacement/maintenance. But if you like it, fits your needs nothing wrong with it. My parents are Ford people and never a problem. I would only hesitate if it was the eco-boost, turbos at 86k....or the triton motors which had a host of design issues like shallow spark plug threads, etc. Though asking this question here you're likely only going to get a certain type of response...
