So the Cummins web site has a coming soon spot and a greyed out engine. When you click it it's a survey. I bet if enough Tacoma guys and gals go through the survey Cummins may actually put forward the effort to giving us an engine swap kit. Link below.

Any others that can go online and go through the survey would only help. Cummins is really trying to expand their grasp in the market. I would really think us Tacoma guys could benefit from a good diesel.

Toyota already have a tacoma with a diesel engine. Check the Hilux platform.

Not here in the United States. Getting a half cut with all the necessary parts is getting harder and harder as well. Also I would never pay a company to swap in an engine that I can not get parts for 10 years from now.

That's a terrible option. The 4.0 and 3.5 are stronger more powerful motors.

I find that very difficult to believe. The 3.5 is new and is actually very sluggish and it's not efficient by any means. My 2015 Ram yields better fuel efficiency from over an 8000 pound truck. It's also diesel fired and emissions equipped. The 4.0 was a better engine but always leaks (personal experience).
A small diesel provides greater torque and efficiency.

Looks like I Have My answer why Toyota won't put in a diesel....

Admins go ahead and delete this thread. Too much resistance and backlash from it already.

It doesn't have better torque. Efficiency maybe, but it washes out with the higher cost of fuel.

Add to that the higher cost of the engine, plus the higher maintenance costs, plus the lower reliability, no increase in towing capacity, and what is the point?

It's not a discussion when people just say "why change". I understand people like Toyota engines but I do not share that liking. Unfortunately every Toyota I have owned or worked on has been a constant struggle to maintain reliability. If rather not go through the list of issues.

I thought now that the Tacoma has 195k and the engine is beginning to fail I could rally support from people here in TacomaWorld to get us another engine swap option that would be reliable, efficient and diesel fired with full compliance with the federal emissions regulations.
