I had a guy hit me on my bike years ago and I have a shunt in my head now so fighting is not a opp. I do carry a gun 24/7 to stop any one that tries to attack me. I guess that's what I pay car insurance for it will be fixed.

Na. I'm the type that it's there if I need it. And when I do I do. But if I don't I'll be pissed that I should. But I know it'll do the job.

Hopefully you don't hit anything bigger than a bird because that 1/8" plate bumper you got doesn't hold up well to cars.

What happened to that one? And it's 3/16. But we will see I guess.

Rear ended a Prius, but that is the Vengeance bumper which is 11 ga steel. The Premium bumper you have is 3/16" so should hold up much better.

I had the same exact thing happen to me in my other car up 200ft on a bridge with rush hour traffic coming to a halt. Was kind of scary especially since the damage made me immobile lol The other driver was in a Honda Accord and I was watching him weave through traffic in my rear view. He claimed I rear ended him but I knew for a damn fact it wasn't my fault and the damage to each our vehicles proved it. He did about $7k worth of damage all covered by his insurance. Good luck OP and hope for a quick repair!

I don't own one but I've heard rule of thumb for a winch is at least double the weight of your vehicle.

Almost positive the front facing airbags are activated off of intertia, so it's unaffected by a plate bumper. At least that's what I've read on here when the same question has come up before.

Yep, in VA you can pay $500 a year IIRC to not have insurance. This was true at least when I was there 3 years ago.

Might be cheaper for them to pay for that vs paying for insurance.

Thats true. But God damn could be sued personally. But guess they don't care. They probably don't have anything anyways.

I would gather that 3/16 is significantly stronger. My old bumper on my first gen was a prerunner bumper made by demello out of 3/16. I one time tapped a 4runner when she last second hit the brakes instead of going right and merging onto a busy road. I had almost caved in her tailgate and my bumper only had a slight silver scuff that I wiped off with my hand. I don't think I would run anything 11 gauge or 1/8" on my truck unless it was for a gas tank skid. There is a reason why many companies run 3/16" skids as an option.

I've never had a problem with an 8000lb winch pulling out any Toyota I've owned. Nothing wrong with going bigger just the extra weight of a bigger winch when it really isn't needed. Besides I don't think too many aftermarket bumpers for Toyota's will support a 12,000lb winch.

He needs a 12k winch just for the bumper.
