steering rack outer tie rod jamb nuts

Just removed my rack and tie rods came off. but the nuts seem to be rust welded on and soaking in PB for a day has not helped at all.

I have been looking for these as mine are unable to come off the outer tie rods

I have searched ebay and auto parts stores but having no luck finding them and my rack needs to go back in ASAP

 

Call the dealer. 50/50 mix of acetone/atf works way better than anything for a penetrator.

Are you only looking for the nuts? Or are you swapping outer tie rods to a new R&P?

Couldn't you just go to Home Depot and find a nut that fits?

 

one is left handed and doubt HD would carry it

 

Ahh, didn't know that. I don't remember that when I did my R&P swap a few weeks ago. I think your best bet is just buying new outer tie rods. The cheap ones are $6 and you can use just the bolt if you want.

you can not install a tie rod with out the jamb nut, it will unscrew

 

I know, and some of those come with new jamb nuts

 

all I have seen don't show a jamb nut

 

Is that not the jamb nut there? That's the second one in the "economy" section.

 

Put some heat on them , They will unscrew very easily.

 

I will do heat tonight and buy that rock auto one if it don't work

Torch got the job done. So hundred bucks in tools in order to fix this. I hope to install it tomorrow night. Rack is ready to go back in.

50 for the torch and 50 for a Dremel tool to cut the bolt under AC comp. New PS hoses on the way and hope to drive it this weekend again.

 

I also buggered up my high pressure hose. The fitting was so rusted that it wouldn't spin.

 

mine did same thing, I cut the metal hose so it would come out easier

 

Unfortunately I had no idea it was doing this until I already had it out. I just thought it was tough to turn. Luckily I was able to get a new hose from napa the next morning for $90.
