if you are a 4x4 you MUST be fully in 4lo before you can begine to attempt to put in the rear locker (unless you have modded the truck).

The locker is ONLY engaged when the red dash light is SOLID. if its flashing its not locked.

To properly put it in you MUST be under 5mph. I personally come to a complete stop (if you are a prerunner you need not do anything else, if you are a 4x4 you must be fully in 4 lo - no blinking dash lights). Flip the locker on, then SLOWLY drive forward in an a turn IN ONE DIRECTION, you will hear it click as it locks in (due to the difference in spinning rates of the rear tires allowing the teeth of the locker to line up in that turn you made going slow) and the light will go solid on a dash.

Did you buy the truck used? Maybe the previous owner put a diff lock button in the truck
Sports do not come with a factory diff lock.

    Then it would be simple.
    Put in drive.
Push locker button. Drive slow tell you hear a pop type sound and the light comes on, if there is a light. Should be red and in the right instrument cluster. It should also come on when you click on the ignition for a few seconds and then turn off.

I tried to activate the locker without doing anything else, just having it in 2WD. It just blinked and beeped, but didn’t do anything. I thought on a 4x4 TRD OR it could be rear lockered in 2WD, like a prerunner.

If it just blinked and then did nothing, I was completely stopped. Did I do any harm?

And if you try to activate out of 4LO then it will just given you the flashing indicator and do nothing?
