Who has mounted flush mount LED's on their rear bumper? Can't seem to find a good write up about this mod. I just got some Rough Country LED to help with back up lighting when I launch my boat at night or before the sun comes up. But before I start to cut into the bumper, I am seeking some thoughts and advice. One thing I notice off the bat is that the light flanges are truly flush and our rear bumper has a slight curve to it. Will these sit flush or will there be some slight spacing, will the four bolts draw the bumper flush to the flanges? I also notice that there is not much space behind the bumper and only a small area of the bumper is suitable and clear of any brackets etc. for the back of the lights to clear. Any assistance of direction to a link in case I missed it would be greatly appreciated.

they will sit flush. the wiring harness supplied is too short to reach the rear bumper so you will have to lengthen it. it will only reach to the rear of the drivers door from under the hood. I used dremel with cutting wheel, make sure you have at least 4 wheels haha wear eye protection. I ordered a switch from CH4x4. get red not amber, their amber is more of a yellow then a burnt orange. I just cleared my hitch where I mounted mine. but lots of room back there.

so if u decide to get a ch4x4 switch to keep it looking oem, you can cut that push button off the supplied wiring harness and hook up the switch real easy. so WHITE from harness would go to GREEN from switch (power from battery that will get sent to energize relay). BLUE from harness goes to RED 1 from switch (this wire sends the power to the relay). then the black from harness I did not use because is it just the ground for the illumination on the push button. I wired my switch to dim with the rest of the dash lights. to do that, on the switch you then have a RED 2(+) wire and a BLACK(-). These are your illumination + and -. I wired them to the dimmer switch to the left of the steering wheel. Green with WHITE stripe is GROUND and solid GREEN is your positive. so RED2 to GREEN and BLACK to GREEN w/ WHITE STRIPE.

I started with a Dremel but turned to a 4" grinder.

Thanks for the quick reply. Those are the exact lights I got. I had already ran wiring to the rear long ago in anticipation of doing this and will only be using the Deutsch connectors that come with the harness. Good to now know that they will mount flush and it looks like you placed them in same (and only) location I see fit. Truly appreciate the pictorial.

yup, wish I had me one of those grinders haha used 3 cutting wheels on the first hole cuz I was worried about cutting too much off, so I had to keep trimming lol the second hole just one wheel cuz I was a little more confident.

I brought some 3" 3M cutting wheels from work that our metal workers use with a pneumatic cutting tool. If that doesn't work, I will switch to a 4" grinder with cut off wheel. That seems to be the weapon of choice on YouTube tutorials.

Did you relocate your inverter switch? Mines on the top row and I’d like to do this mod and a front bumper bar light and put both switches on the top row.
