What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

Truck is looking good Josh. How are you liking the STT Pros? Have you used therm in anger yet?

It may just be the camera angle but the camber looks off on the passenger side. Would hate to see you prematurely put wear on those new tires.

 

Well it may not be "wheelable" but I squeezed my 33 12.5 15 trail grapplers onto my Tacoma with no lift. Also Trd pro decals.

 

If it was me, I would try putting some extra weight back there and see what effect it has. 4"s is a lot. Might have to put several hundred pounds back there to get it to level out in the short term.

There never was a frame recal for the '96s.

Rear brakes. Were they in water for a while too?

 

So far I like em, not too loud but the plano case on my rack hides the road noise quick. Haven't used them offroad yet, but yeah my camber is slightly off. Been meaning to get into the alignment shop but with graduating and moving all this month makes it tough.

 

I'll be interested to hear what you think of them offroad. They are one of the options I am considering for the next set.

Rear brakes were in the water for bout 15mins. I always rinse the rear with fresh water after. But perhaps it would be salt water that caused it to stick a bit maybe.

Test fit. If ok, remove and paint off of the truck.

Another hint. To avoid runs, suspend the panel from the ceiling and shoot the paint strait up. This hint really works good when shooting the clear coat.

I used Rapterliner on a bumper, that stuff is holding up great.

Got bored and took the fender flares off.

 

So I keep ECT on all the time on my 2.7l because the acceleration sucks otherwise. Has anyone noticed any adverse affect on their gas mileage when they keep it on at all times versus keeping if off and only using it when accelerating?

I swear it uses more gas than if it were off but I could be wrong.

 

Yes it uses more gas.

It changes your shift points up higher and holds the gear longer when under load.

I keep mine off unless loaded down with full gear.
