    Just what I've read and didn't write the recall. Reality vs Toyota reality is way different. I'd guess that's the flat rate the dealers get reimbursed from corporate and not actual clock time.

    I get tons of compliments on the truck and appearance / interior. Ride is always smooth. Fast when I wanna go fast. Recalls suck but they happen .. better than the frame am I right?? Hopefully my parts are in after my vacation to BC!!

    Yeah, if they end up changing our your gasket they bleed your brakes and refill it. So make sure you check your wheel wells and rims, had choke oil all over my wheel wells, and rear wheels. If you can avoid it, don't go to Mapunapuna mine looks like its still weeping small kine.

    or did you also have brake issues?
    have they replaced your rear end gaskets?

    Not sure why they bled my brakes, it was just on the invoice.

    They bleed the brakes because they have to pull the axles if I'm not mistaken.
    I'm not going to get butt hurt over this issue because at the end of the day I still love my Taco and it will get sorted out eventually.!

    Patience is a virtue!
    Rome wasn't built in day!
    So just sit back relax and let Toyota figure it out!

    But it is a hassle and a bummer that we have to keep an eye on it in the meantime.

    :cool:

    i didn't realize the axle seals are leaking too.

    btw, how do you like the clazzio seat covers?
    i was going to get the all black, but wife likes
    the black with dark gray and it matches her
    4runner interior. i ordered it with custom embroidering
    it should be here early sept. hopefully i get my truck
    back before then.

    They are not--but:

    In order to change the carrier assembly gasket the carrier must be removed from the axle housing;
    Removing the carrier requires removing the axles (it's a good idea to replace the axle seals after pulling the axles);
    Removing the axles requires removing the brake backing plates;
    Removing the brake backing plates requires disconnecting the brake lines;
    Disconnecting the brake lines requires bleeding the brakes after putting it all back together;

    ok that makes sense.
    this is a bigger job than i first thought.
    hopefully this fixes my problem for good.
    i've already read that the leak continues
    after the fix for some people.

    Luckily, I don't need my truck for work. I asked for a SUV but they said the dealer only allows rentals for
    $35 a day, I didn't feel like arguing, so I took the sonata, which is pretty nice except for the stained seats.

    My service advisor....told me the gaskets were out and that was what I was waiting on which could take 3-4 weeks (we shall see). At least reading the stuff here I shouldnt be surprised.

    Took mine in last Wednesday for the recall. After it failed the inspection my service advisor said 1-3 days for parts. When I went to pick up the loaner the service manager said they had no ETA on parts. "Could be 2 weeks or 2 months" he said. They put me in a 2017 Highlander XLE. Very impressed. Rock chip cracked the windshield yesterday. Not very impressed.

    I haven't kept up with this thread as much as I should have. Did any information come out as to why many if not all of the TRD ORs were not part of the recall despite some seeing signs of weeping?

    Waiting to buy a CPO 2016 Limited-- put a deposit down and am just waiting... Called today and the service department had no idea when the parts would come in, but said 'hopefully by the end of the month'. :poking:
