PrInSu Design Studio Roof Racks BS Thread

I ordered some prinsu awning mounts, extra cross bars and the noise reducing trim. Wanted to know the eta on my shipping so I called CBI! He didn't have a exact answer so he told me he would talk to his boss and call me back! Called me probably 30 mins later with a detailed explanation. Said I should be expecting them around the end of this month! I think prinsu blew up a lot faster than what Zack anticipated! I ordered my prinsu last year during fall group buy. Took about 8 weeks to receive. Communication was some what of a hurdle but in the end it was definitely worth the wait. From what I read the versatility of the prinsu far exceeds front runner but can't say for sure

 

Guess I'll call CBI. As far as the versatility goes, FR and Prinsu are both made with t-slot. I just want a solid delivery date if I place an order with Prinsu.

 

Unless these companies just have a ton of (insert fabricated product name here) laying around then it's fairly common to have long lead times before receiving your product. I waited 8-9 each for both my sliders (SOS Concepts) and bedbars (Relentless Fab). That's just the nature of the beast.

 

Understood. And I agree. But when I order and pay up front I want to be able to talk to someone in a reasonable amount of time. Simple.

 

Well sure, nothing wrong with that. Calling is always a quicker way to get a hold of them. I think alot of these companies start out small and then just blowup before they are prepared to handle all of that extra work.

 

Does CBI have anything about Prinsu on their website? Couldn't find anything. I had been PM'ing Zach and emailing Prinsu. No response.

 

Sure, but this rack is different in that it takes no assembly by CBI.

Plasma (or water jet) cut the side rails. Ship to painters. Receive back into inventory.
Order cross bars tapped and plated from manufacturer. Receive into inventory.
Order spacers, hardware. Receive into inventory.

Customer places order.

Get box. Add to box side rails, wind deflector, cross bars, hardware. Ship.

Unless their vendor has a huge lead time, CBI shouldn't either.

 

Exactly. Welding sliders or a bumper is entirely different.

 

I'm prepping for when my rack gets delivered, and have been thinking about this protection. What do you mean by cut to shape and applied? did you not just use the full 6" width across the roof, or did you try to cut out a curved piece to match the arc of the wind deflector?

 

Cbi took over the prinsu website. Not sure if or when they will add it to their site.

Quick question for anyone who might know. Would the 4runner 3/4 rack mount to shell roof rails? Or the bigger question, does anyone know if the 4runner rack mounting points are movable?

The reason I ask is that I like the built in fairing of the 4runner racks and ideally could throw that on my shell.

I too, just rec'd a reply from CBI on a question about the Prinsu cabrack. I'm sure I could have got a quicker answer if I had just called. Looks like they do take time to clear their emails every few days.

 

Still no definite ship times, but they say it will get better.

 

question, are the prinsu racks "removable"? in the sense that I can pop it on and off? I don't really want it on for daily driving, but have a few times a year i could use it.
