I too am an IT guy. Catastrophic failure is definetly my favorite. First encountered it adding fiber channel volumes to windows.

You can do it! Just soak the old exhaust in PB at all the nuts bolts and studs and shell pop right off bro! The spec u fits in there way better than the stock pipe or the y pipe did, everything has plenty of clearance. According to Gadget, the best way to assemble is to snug everything up a little less than hand tight so that there's still play everywhere, then use a jack to lift the muffler to the point where you want it to sit when cruising checking to make sure it still clears everywhere, then get everything nice and tight and you'll be good! He also said for the v band clamp in the middle line it up right first and then use an impact gun to torque it down and it should just pop on in the right place

I wanted to do it in stages so I could see what each seemed to add to the performance.

I was too. But gadget wasn't down to cut a discount to support multiple dyno runs.

    So I'm going all in.

I would wait for the next release (1.02) before doing dyno. It is my understanding that there will be intake valve timing improvements that will improve the performance of the exhaust. Plus Matt has said they will be releasing a tune specifically for the Spec U. Just a thought to make sure you get the biggest bang for your buck on the dyno.

that is cool and I've been an all-in early adopter before many times, but with this I'm waiting before all-in. just starting with the tune and intake. i think there will be more hardware development incoming especially since the community is lighting up for engine development (thank you @OVTune !).

since I'm focused on driveability that will come right away. later the will be more options, likely including FI, and at that point it will be new hardware time. it's all good either way.

I don't want to argue on the internet about it, and I understand what you are saying. I drove medium sized trucks for years with a manual transmission and Rule #1 is stay off the gas while using the clutch. I still know and understand that rule. I'm not trying to do burnouts getting it moving, just getting it moving. But if all you do is let the clutch out on this truck then get on the gas, how do you start moving on a hill when towing? There's a compromise to all things, understanding towing with a manual WILL wear the clutch sooner. We do everything we can to mitigate that, but it's a fact of life. Just like towing regularly on an Auto will wear items sooner as well.

Drive one of these with a manual and a load... I think you'll see what I'm talking about.

EDIT: I also used the word "launch" but I'm not sure it means what you think it means, or we are using it differently... I'm not talking about a drag race launch here I just mean getting the truck moving....

Do you/we know how the URD y pipe fits with some of the aftermarket flat belly skids? I know we are way out in the weeds here but since we are here....

@OVTune , any review updates on your original test truck? Performance, mpg loss, etc? I searched but don't really know who I'm looking for..

    Thanks

    Sending keys out now.

For the new kits being sent out, even easier. We will be pre-registering the dongles for you. So simply download drivers, download ECU software, done.
