Agree the optics are bad with what Vettel did but in terms of safety , Verstappen's double moves under braking are far more dangerous not only for the drivers but also for fans

That was a damn impressive reaction time by Bottas on the start.

I didnt stick around for the after race show. But during the race when they showed it it didnt look like he moved (course it wasnt super slow mo like im sure they did post race). The stewards looked at it and didnt say he jumped though, though a .201 is crazy fast. It takes the brain like .1 just to even process the light has changed. Whether he actually did slightly jump or not, he did have an amazing start which I think did make it look worse. Didnt bog down, seemed to hit the right RPM's and shift points perfectly which gave him a clean start.

I am becoming less and less fond of Vettel though. Seems like anything that doesnt go his way we get to hear him complaining about it 2-3 times. Come on man report it once and be done with it.

Hated to see Alonso and Max out on the first turn on race start.

My guess is the people from Silverstone are probably already in talks with Liberty to adjust their contract but don't like what they are hearing so they did this as an attempt to leverage Liberty into a better deal.

The 5% increase in cost each year caused Silverstone to post losses for the last 2 years and that escalator was set to continue to the end of the contract in 2027

Liberty will give them a better deal. Or move to another track. And we fans will get 25+ races in a year, and European venues back on the calendar.

I just hope they don't push the race count too high.

Oh yeah, I get Silverstone's side of it and don't blame them at all for wanting a new deal. I just don't believe that they would initiate the conversation to renegotiate the contract by cancelling it and then wanting to see what deal they can get. I suspect the conversation has been going on already and they are just playing a new card to force Liberty's hand.

There was a deadline for Silverstone to enact the break clause

Lets hope. I'm sure the sting of failures is unsettling for anyone looking to outfit their cars with Honda PU's.

Wonder if they could add a wiper to it with a sprayer to wash it off. Would work for most races then provide a windshield wiper for the rain races.

I do like it a lot better than the halo though

So in the wet when they get drenched from the rooster tails this might help deflect the droplets off the visors. So long as they maintain a fair amount of speed. I can see them having tear offs and the drivers removing them either entering/exiting the pits to save time but that would mean more air duct debris causing all sorts of issues.

I doubt the driver could pull a tear off that covers that thing , they can probably barely reach the top when they are belted in the seat

If the tab is at the top they can reach it though after looking at the shield again I doubt it would tear off just right. If they go back to fueling then they would have time to either clean or tear off by the pit crew.
