haha thanks man, and the center caps just simply pops off, and the Yota logo itself on the center cap has tabs so it can be popped from the center caps itself. 2 step process lmao GL

4 cans of plasti dip. Took day and half. Turned out great. Also finished it off with a slight haze of glozzifier 20170710_213604.jpg

I plastidipped the grill, side badges, and rims. 5(?) cans of black plastidip, and 2 cans of glossifier.

I dipped my wheels today. I did a pretty bad job.

Lots of air bubbles, and texture. I go off roading and camping a lot so I am just going to peel and re-dip later this year. tmp-cam-1595321014.jpg

I tried repairing, but we don't have any of the recommended thinners in California.

    Nice work! Looks super clean.
Did you remove the wheels from the truck when dipping, or just the lug nuts?

No one has answered how the wheels hold up in a wash haha.

I don't want to spend the time doing it for it to peel off...

Hi all. I figured I'll check in here. I dipped my grill on third day of ownership. I used (for no particular reason, besides color) Rust-Oleum Peel Coat, mate black on the grill, graphite on bezel and emblem. I like it...

don't worry about the wash, its really durable. People are covering entire cars with it. It can even handle a pressure washer.

A co-worker of mine had done it on his Dodge Ram. He had done it several years prior to when I saw it and it was holding up great.

Tried doing the badges last night and totally screwed up. Put it on heavy like I have seen people recommend doing. Can someone better explain the technique on what percent each coat should such as only 50% on the first etc.

I ended up with 6 coats super heavy and it turned out real tacky/speckled.

I'm wanting to go for a nice smooth finish. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Also do you recommend having each coat dry first before the next coat is added?

I also think that's where I messed up. Put it in super heavy and never gave it a chance to dry up for the next coat.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but from what I've read and scene you do a nice even coat to just cover the areas let dry for 8-10 mins the add another coat, rinse and repeat. Then add glossifer of your using it in same method. Don't let it fully dry then remove any tape if you have any.

Coating wise it's all preference I'm guessing after about 4-5 coats. Most people say to add at least that then have seen other to go to 7-8. I'm gonna should for 5 and see how it looks then maybe add another before glossifier.

At least unless it's unamamus that I'm wrong.lol

    Nothing yet...
If you use tape, you can't let it dry. You have to he quick and pull the tape off quickly... then if you want a 2nd coat, reapply the tape.

On the fence whether to peel it off the lug nuts which might be difficult to do, what do you guys thing. I am going to order the red TRD center cap stickers to give some contrast too much black right now in my opinion

I used Plastidip on the wheels for a a G35 I used to own. Tremendous product. Also did the chalky mirrors on an old Jeep.

As far as lugs....just take a toothpick and pick the dip off the lugs, if thats what you want. I left the lugs black and preferred it.

And dip works better if you do multiple light coats instead of heavy. However, if you have tape you need to use heavy. Dip and pull tape. But not enough for it to drip. The best part of Dip is that it can be peeled off. But light coats are a nightmare to remove. Light coat....wait 10 minutes and coat again. 6-8 coats is not too many. And go WELL onto the tire so you can pull the Dip ring off. Otherwise you have silver wheel showing.

Apologies on the focus for the wheel pic. Didn't realize, until now, how out of focus it really is.

What are your thoughts on keeping the can in warm water in between applications?

The can itself? I don't see a benefit. The nozzle is what will clog. After every coat I turn the can upside down and spray for 2-4 seconds until the spray is clear. Standard practice for a can of paint.
