Yesterday I picked up my wife's 08 Camry from the dealer after having the recall work done. They accidentally left the invoice to the manufacture behind my receipt. For grinding off the bottom of my pedal and flashing my software, they got $3,900. WOW. For less then an hours worth of work by a minimum wage person.

Oh yea, they washed the car too, but left the windows and mirrors all spotty, so it must have been a spray off and let it air dry.

That is insane. I also read that Toyota was giving money to dealers to pay employees overtime so all of the recalls can get fixed.

    Toyota should make an audit.

Yeah, the dearlership I am dealing with stated that though sales were slow in Jan & Feb the dealership had great months due to the income from the service department. He stated that the service department managers would likely make more $$$ than any employee/salesman/finance managers etc. this year!

I'm sorry, but I find that very hard to believe. Not questioning the dollar value of the invoice you found, but I doubt very much that Toyota is shelling out $3900 per vehicle to the dealers.

Just using a number of 6 million recalled vehicles, Toyota is going to pay
$23,400,000,000 to dealers in just labor? Weirder things have happened I guess but I seriously doubt it...

Good point, its probably closer to $390 per vehicle... of course for tax purposes they could be allowing the dealerships to write the difference off as a "loss".

One expert estimated that it would cost $160 per vehicle.
