That's the thing! It's either a visual trick, or they really did settle.

But I haven't hauled much of anything. Nothing over 1k lbs for sure. Just a little wheeling is all.

@mwc273 did say he got some nice shots of me flexing out when I was leading the group Saturday. My only thought is that they got really used and are just warming up.

 

The OEM leaves do settle some. That generally takes place with normal road driving and some routine hauling and in the first few months of the vehicles life. It's possible, however remote, that you're still in the break in period of those leaves. I kind of doubt that's the case though. I'm running the same leaves, albeit 128,000 miles into their life span, and the same AAL, 52,000 miles since those were installed. (Front coils with 77,000) About 2,000 miles after initial install, I started paying attention to ride height. I was doing my homework, trying to figure out if I could put 285's on the truck. I have notes that I wrote down and kept folded up inside my owners manual. Just for shits and giggles, I measured (center of hub to bottom of fender lip) just recently while contemplating the upcoming new front coils to see just how much front lift I can deal with and not have to mess with the rear. 18 months/52,000 miles later, the rear measured EXACTLY the same as it did when the AAL was installed. ZERO sag. That's not to say NO ONE will have different results....But I don't believe there's going to be much difference. (I'll be swapping my 885X's for a pair of 887's)

I still run a front sway bar. That puts the focus even more to the rear when my truck flex's. I've put mine in a few spots that managed to flex enough to raise one corner off the ground...and put opposite corners on the bump stops. ie....as much flex as it'll do...I've hauled several HEAVY (for a Tacoma) loads. I've pulled my Airstream camper a couple times. Point there is, I've put the rear suspension through enough that a potential problem would have surfaced if there was one.

While I don't pretend to be the brightest crayon in the box, remember, I do have a mechanical engineering degree. I've also been tinkering with 4wds for over 40 years now. This ain't my first rodeo.

All of this leads me to this comment....MEASURE your ride height. The "Eye-crometer" method of measuring has proven time after time to be highly inaccurate.

Possibility does exist that your suspension has settled some. Even if that is the case, that is no indication it will continue to settle. At one point, weren't you looking at a 1" block because you thought it was a bit low still?

 

I have the rear blocks, got them from Chris @presta24. And I'll go measure in a moment after I shove lunch down my neck.

Wanna say I was at 23 1/4" at all 4 corners after lift. I have 45k miles on the truck as a whole. Front stuff has about 70k on them by now (bought used from @totmacher), the rear shocks have probably 10k on them, the AAL has maybe 3k on them, and stock leafs have 45k miles on them.

I need to put my anti-sway bar back on too. Not planning to wheel for a while so I can get some other shit done to the truck. Yes @11TRDTX I'm talking about front shocks haha!

A bit of unsolicited advice.....When I make ANY changes on my truck, I try NOT to make knee jerk reaction based changes until it's had time settle in and I'm used to it, UNLESS there's a definite OBVIOUS problem. Give the suspension fair time to settle in. One or two off road trips is a decent shake-down period, but give it a few miles to see if there'll be any further settling, or even if there is/was ANY....

Also. It's a good practice to measure suspension on the same spot every time....Irregularities on a driveway/parking lot/etc, can skew measurements. Establish a set of baseline numbers for a consistent comparison.
