I need to start my patch collection, but don't have a single one yet. One day mine will look like yours!

    I have a few mods
yup, I had a buddy that worked in vehicle maintenance help me with my 4.56s. super easy with the master install kit, new pinion gets its own new bearings so you can just pull the factory pinion out and not worry about it, I reused my carrier assembly bearings because they looked fine and the hobby shop I went to did not have the proper tools to remove those bearings, ring gear gets replaced. I reused the factory shims since I didnt replace the carrier bearings, installed the pinion with the solid spacer (this makes your world SOOOO much easier), my buddy is the one that tightened the pinion for preload and everything pretty much lined up with backlash and the gear pattern was damn spot on where it was supposed to be. Did the proper 500 mile break in and here I am almost 6 months later with 0 issues with the gears. In total for labor I spent $55 and $550 for my gear, install kit, and solid spacer (im a prerunner, so I only had one diff to do). NOTE: this is just a brief recall of what I remember doing...not exactly in order or anything lol, kinda hard to recall since it was so long ago lol

appreciate it Chris for sharing, I have studied the process for several years, and did parts of it for a friend for the front. Im leaning more towards doing it myself but we shall see. If ECGS offers some sort of discount at the time of me ordering everything, I might be swayed.

That's not horrible since you're already out that way, but dammit that's still a far drive total. That's like another tank of gas.

I guess I requested a custom quote from a shop? This is what they responded with:

My name is Charlie from Trick Trucks Ten Inc. and I received your inquiry regarding A.R.E. Thanks for your interest in our premier line of caps and tonneau covers!
The ARE DCU Series as requested will be approx. $1950.00 +tax installation included. Please allow 3-4 weeks from order date for delivery.
