Attempted replacing my passenger side crash sensor on my 06 tacoma. One of the pins was so corroded it snapped off in the female plug [truck side]. Any tips on removal of the pin from the plug? Or is this just going to cost me a lot of money. Tried tweezers and needles and I couldn't budge it. Don't want to mess up the plug anymore than it already is.

    Thanks

    HC

It may be possible to unpin the plug, remove what you need, then repin it again. However any type of tampering or repairs to srs components is not recommended. So choice is yours i suppose..

There are plenty of examples on the tube. Find one that most closely matches your style connector.
To be on the safest side, you may want to disconnect your battery to disable the SRS. I understand 15 mins to discharge.

I would just plug it back in and forget about it. It's on the passenger side so you don't need to worry being the driver.

Problem is I can't get an inspection with the SRS light on....

Also, the plug does not look like it comes apart.

How about cutting off both plugs and wiring in your own set of plugs?

I see a cap on each wire. If you pop that out, there is a tab on the crimp that holds it in place. You need a Jewelers screwdriver to get between the crimp and the connector body to push the tab into the crimp to unlock it from the connector body. Repair wires should be available from the dealer.

From the other side, there is a more than likely a rubber grommet that needs to be pulled up before unlocking the crimp

From dealing with body shops, I can tell you that the manufacturers do not recommend any splicing of the airbag wiring, in any way. Body shops will have a complete wiring harness replaced for something as minor as a gashed sensor wire. So, that being said, if you make the decision to splice the wiring, you are taking responsibility for the complete air bag system in the event of a crash.

Put black tape over the light, or do what I've done in the past, slip the dude doing the inspection $20 to pass your truck. Problem solved.

This/\/\ i work in a body shop. As I mentioned earlier. Should be able to come apart, but not recommended. Choice is yours if you want to make it work yourself or spend over $1000 to change the whole harness
