What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

Well the housing market is ridiculous but that'll plateau once all these new units are built.

But cost of living is consummate and relative.

Try living in NY city. Ridiculously expensive everything.

Then I was just in rural OH visiting my GF's family. Extremely low cost of living. But there's no jobs, no economy, etc.

Isolated is nice but often times means no economy, jobs, etc.

Balance it all out and CO is hard to beat

It's why it's so freaking popular and why I'm buying land in either ID or MT

 

It's clear that all Sunfire Red Pearl trucks are direct descendants of the gods.

My truck would reincarnate into a brand new, off the line, 1st gen with 0 miles.

 

Cleaning the top of my spare tire.

Installing a body lift? Doesn't look like the cab's been done yet.

 

Close, pulling one out.

 

Spent the day pulling off my trailer hitch, brush guard, and pulling all of my add-on wiring runs that go from front to back. I have a second battery and inverter in the rear, as well as multiple lights. Why take that stuff off you ask? Monday she goes in for a new frame, courtesy of Toyota Motor Co. I was too cheap to pay them to remove stuff.

An interesting side note. I installed the trailer hitch when I first acquired the truck, 12 years ago. I am religious (or anal) about using anti-seize compound on everything that I bolt together. Today, it paid big dividends, I was able to quickly remove the nuts and bolts holding the hitch, even though they have gone through upstate New York winters for the last 12 years. I was shocked to look inside the nuts, and see shiny metal.

 

Bought a 2000 Tacoma TRD with 189,000 miles and couldn't be happier!

I don't know how much it weighs but I know the big red weigh 100# (7), smaller weigh 50# (2). Sit about level ha.

 

Pulled it out of the garage, selling my e46 wagon tomorrow, taco is going to the mechanic for front brakes and a/c repair.
Eager to start daily driving this truck.

 

What about former Californians?

Generally yes, but down here, it's cheap, plenty of work, and not much crime/drugs.

 

I am having a hard time believing 5' of line will be enough to reach the rear diff from the engine compartment. I'm thinking at least 10' maybe 12' is what it'll take.

 

I seem remember about 15.
