This Toyota dealer shít is getting scary. HTF can a "mechanic", any mechanic, just plain "forget" to install lug nuts? It's the next thing you do after putting the wheel on the studs...

Shit happens. Sometimes that shit is negligence. I'm sure the dealer will fix the OP's vehicle. It doesn't look severely damaged and nobody got hurt so I'd bet in a week or so it will be just like any other 2009 truck.

Of course it's negligence (noun: 1. failure to take proper care over something [Oxford]). What else would it be?

The people here with the mellow, laid back attitudes are the reason this crap keeps happening. "Oh gee Wally, no big deal. A bridge for my two front teeth and some burn scar surgery and I will be as good as new." The dealership has to accept liability for the work performed in their bay. From a heart surgeon to the Taco Bell cashier, they all carry the same responsibility of customer satisfaction. If you start letting that slide then you become a slave to the corporation instead of the other way around.

I dont think its a stretch when you have a tire rotation to expect the lug nuts to be installed correctly. Only 2 steps in the process...remove, replace.

This shows a very scary problem. Toyota will cover their @ss under any situation. And faded is right, you cant pussy foot this stuff. I was 100 feet away from a very busy intersection at rush hour. If the wheel came off at higher speed it would be reallly bad. Any chance that the rear diff could be damaged by dragging that one hub across?

Axle tube or a shaft could be bent, gear issues, etc. Easily fixed by the dealer.

looks like a good time to get a high clearance rear bumper and cut off the damaged parts

So we agree it is negligence.

How does an example of negligence with the OP's vehicle equal "This Toyota dealer shít is getting scary."?

You can go through just about any other manufacturer and many independent shops and find examples of negligence with a customer's vehicle. That is one of the reasons many folks choose to personally perform simple maintenance on their own vehicles.

loose lugs and loose drain plugs happen way more than we would all want to believe...

just be glad nobody was hurt

    the rest can be repaired...

I hope that tech was canned on the spot... no excuse for loose lugs, let alone no lugs... that is just beyond belief

Time constraints, i have 2 kids and i drive alot for work. Im not incapable as ive done work that i dont trust them to like waterpump, tstat, plugs, etc. But i cant afford the time to do every peice of work. If a supermarket sold you rotten food they would fine you atleast 1000$ in chicago. Minus the possibility of other tickets once on site. The body they better give me a good plan in the a.m. its pyrite so blending wont look right. And if they even think of bondo im gonna lose it.

Sorry to here about this @Razorecko
I hate trusting the dealer with my truck. I'm waiting on a part to come in and to get a/c fixed under warranty and they already cross threaded a skid bolt that they had to fix at its first oil change. I'm scared to find out how they fixed it. I should probably check it before I take it back in next week to make sure its fixed properly before my new skids come in next month.

I know when the truck was driven into the bay i heard rotational scraping coming out of the hub. In the bay later he said the hub looked good, lol. Looks fine but whats the scraping noise ?? - they would love to "fix it" have you sign off on it and say adios !
