What's nice about Tacos is you can have fun building it to exactly what YOU want it to be! Mine, for example is a kind of a Mall Crawler that CAN do some rough roading without being a full-on "Off-Road Monster", which I just don't need. I'm in the woods, so the extra lights and guards are handy, and not just for show. Yeah, SOME stuff is kinda for show, but I have an odd sense of humor, so it works for me!

Can't wait for the PRO owners to come in dick swinging. "I spent 45k on my truck!!! What you mean it's not a real PRO!!" FAAAACK. Anyhow. You are comparing truck already equipped with v8s and rumble to a mid sized truck. Id trust the Tacoma for longevity before that Twin Turbo maintenance nightmare Raptor and the lack of any quality Dodge...

Yeah? so? Chevy went with a suspension company that has 0 street cred Off-road. That poor truck will fall apart soon. Wait a while for the shit storm on the Colorado Forums. Hell read about it now on there. The reg ones have all kinds of issues.

Why would they ever do that when plenty of people are paying 45, 50k+ for a pro. They aren't even realizing that they could get a full size with almost double the horsepower and torque for that. Or, if they love the tacoma and want to stay mid-size, save 10-15,000 (yes TEN TO FIFTEEN THOUSAND) and get the sickest suspension/lift package, tires, change gear ratios, front/rear air lockers, and probably more....professionally installed too.

I've been a part of the Toyota world now for a year and a half and I honestly believe now Toyota could charge $5k for a "Production 1 of 50" plastic sticker and people would still buy it.

No argument here....Toyota slaps on a sticker and ppl buy it....how do I know? Well I purchased an off road with cash that in saved for years, lol. I know I can put more cash in it and slap on a front locker, however it would have been nice if Toyota would have already included it. AGAIN, I love my taco.

I didn't mean for this to be a Taco dissing post. However, if we are honest, we can all admit we paid more for the TRD sticker than if was worth.

yep i'm guilty too. I'm moving on from the 3rd gen soon, I just haven't been impressed unfortunately with the truck. It is nice and I'm sure it will be reliable enough, but I just can't see having $30k+ tied up in what I got. Glad you like yours though! People here seem to either love them or be extremely disappointed in them. Funny how that works, the way some others describe their trucks, I would swear I bought something completely different!

Might stay in the Toyota world though, Im probably picking up an older 1st gen 4 banger to go with my 4.0 inline 6 wrangler.

This what I have been saying...
And now the Chevy ZR2 has longer control arms....

Toyota is close they should take the pro and add:
    1. More power, a larger V6 or 4.7 V8
    2. Longer travel suspension
    3. Lower gearing
    4. Econ mode, normal and power mode
I think that would do it.. The Pro just needs a kick...

It would be worth the price tag if it had a supercharger or anything to give it noticeably more power. Hell even coming stock with a different tune on it (like OVTune is doing) would be better than seeing 54k for some new shocks and a "limited cement" paint color.

To address the power and trans OVT can now reflash the computer...
So now with intake exhaust and a flash should be able to pick up 30-50 hp just like all the tuner cars can...

Exactly , it seems like the only thing that really sits the off road and PRO apart is the color, trim, and that darn sticker, lol

Not to mention that the ZR2 cannot accommodate any tires larger than what they have without losing that fancy suspension they are bragging so hard about. Jalopnik and I think TFL called them out on this. The tires it has on it are the biggest tires it will ever have without removing those (and low hanging) shocks and redoing the suspension. Chevy engineers admitted that the tires it has "are pretty much it" and that they can't accommodate larger ones, not even a single size.

This is a little side tracked, but does any one else want a black 1985 Toyota pickup 4x4 with two coats of wax to take Jennifer to the lake?

Eh, looks like 33's are pretty much fitting depending on which tire you go with.

    http://coloradofans.com/forums/193-...largest-tires-no-lift-lt285-70r17-33-0-a.html

No suspension lift, but sounds like they went with body lifts after. One guy trimmed a tiny bit of plastic.

Well, they are looking for problems. Chevy engineers said no more than what they have on it with the stock suspension. I have read several articles saying the same thing. You can always slap bigger tires on something but at what price? I have watched a few Chevy engineers (when I was shopping trucks I came across this) say the same thing. If you lose the suspension you can upgrade them. Our local dealer said the same thing so I wonder if they will warranty any issues as a result of putting bigger tires on when they say you cannot.
