I know their history. I didn't know what he meant with his answer. Like he said misquote.

Those pants would suck getting on over the pads ! (they don't look to be well padded and like the article said ...too slippery on the ice)

"A newly created coaching role for NHL-great Pierre Turgeon, who will specifically focus on helping implement an up-tempo, attacking offensive style of play"

Nice, I remember everyone practicing their Turgeon move-lol

... def should help improve some offensive flavor !!!!!!!

Actually, when the Sharks came into the league it wasn't a straight-up expansion thing. It was a split of the North Stars, with the new ownership taking over in Minnesota and the North Stars owners moving to the new team in San Jose. As part of the deal they got to bring more than 20 North Stars players out West with them. So basically the California Seals / Oakland Seals / California Golden Seals continue to live on in the old neighborhood.

I read that on Wiki .... but still the old Seals team is pretty much Dallas now along with the old Minn NS. I think those old colors are better than the teal though ..:)

I would imagine you would just wear the open girdle and then your shin pads etc like normal. Closest thing I can think of is like inline leagues, puck not ball though. Because in inline puck leagues, you usually are fully padded like ice and wear inline pants, with the compression shorts/jock, open girdle and shins underneath. It does look a bit strange though seeing those old NHL pros with the pants lol.

The very first year I played. Probably 1982? I wore the pants. Lol. I started with wood sticks then went aluminum with wooden blade. Now composite. The new sticks I can get 3 or 4 years out of before they break.

I seem to snap a stick every year and I only play maybe a dozen times. It seems like the lighter and more pricey the stick the shorter it lasts, which sort of makes sense.

The less flex the better I like them. So that helps longevity I think. I'm too heavy for anything under 90 flex rating. And I ussualy cut them which adds th the stiffness.
Also cooperalls is the brand name of the pants iirc.

You are correct. Funny thing is this isn't the first conversation on here about them. I think we went through this about 3 years ago before most of the newer members were here.

3 to 4 years out of a stick! What the.... I'm lucky if I get 3 month out of one, must be doing it wrong... too many clappers apparently

I've been running the Warrior HD1 100 Flex Clear for past year or so. Just bought my 5th one yesterday. Keep finding deals on Ebay

They even make great office decor once exploded.

So might be going to Thailand to play in Oct 2018 ? Goalie on one of my teams is trying to put together a squad to go out there and play. Could be epic!

Sticks are getting way to high tech now… I long for the days of my Koho, Northland, and Hespler sticks

I have come to really like the whip of a new stick though. I actually shoot a lot off of my right leg, as a RH shot (ala Kessel). If you can't charge the stick up, it is really hard to do. Also, I like the low-kick snap on some of the newer sticks, for passing. But I can certainly appreciate the old sticks for their feel on the puck. I'm not a big slapshot guy so I dunno what those guys usually prefer? Seemed like guys like Iafrate, MacGinnis etc used to heat it up, just like the current guys.
