    x3...

    the KM2s in 285-75-16 are 33.1"

as for regear, you could get away with stock gears on 33s... its when you run 35s that you want to consider regear...

    yea deff... thanks bud...

wow that does make sense.... so basically the skinnier the tire grabs more cuz there is more force to a specific point... then with a wider tire which has more room to work with... i like the spoon concept...

I always heard that for rock crawling a skinny tire is best?(when aired down) gut for sand, mud, and snow. Wider is better. I'm sure someone will correct me of I'm wrong!:)

HAHAHAHAHAHA They'll need a little more convincing than a drawing made with Microsoft paint to have a valid argument. I completely understand where they are getting at though. Makes sense, but where is the science to back it up. I've always said there is a point of being too wide.

depending on how deep the snow or mud is skinny is usually better. skinny is better imo on rocks too. anything you go through thats super deep you want wide tires. Super deep snow, mud, and sand you want some floatation. i had a chevy pickup with 315/75 16s and would go through crazy deep mud and make it. it was also very good on deep packy snow. Although in fresh powder snow and slick surface mud(mud only 6" deep) id get stuck. way too much floatation. My k5 had 255/85s and when i would get stuck in 6" deep mud with 315s the 255s would have awesome traction and pull out the truck with 315 on an incline! same with snow, powdered snow tends to be shifty under wide tires and skinny ones cut through. I prefer skinny tires unless you plan on driving in 3ft of packy snow or severe mudding. As long as you have enough ground clearance for the skinny tires to dig through to get good traction youll be safe.

oh and 33s dont NEED a regear on a v6. although you gas mileage will take a hit. 33s on a 4 banger regear is almost a must from what ive heard

x2...I'm running 275/65/18s which are 32.1" OD and the speedo is in sync with the GPS all the time but is pretty much at the limits of the gearing on my 4 cyl.

My mickey Thomapson say 33X12.5x17 on them

so if you dont want to worry about converting sizes...just go with those...plus....they are a great tire.

i have not regeared my truck and there is some power loss but now that i have a further commute to work i'm more concerned with the 16.5 MPG's i get on a 4 cyl lol

My 285/60/18s I just got rid of were 31.3", the new 275/65/18s are 32.1"....skinnier tread by 1/2" because the sidewall being 65% of 275mm vs. 60% of 285mm but taller because of the math.

not to get off topic here but.. the best setup for mud i have ever ran (not for street use) was 44x19.5x16.5 boggers rear and 38.5x11.00x16.5 skinny boggers front. (less rolling resistance) with non matching ring and pinions ofcourse. but as far as the OP what R&P ratio do you have?
