was thinking that myself. Seems like a rage post honestly due to bad experience with the dealership he went too.

and none of us even find the dealership and corporate wanting to shampoo it is unreasonable except for him. This is the world we live in.

There's not much wiggle room on the pricing. Which is fine. As long as you don't deal with issues because they wanted to save money. Not trying to make a bunch of fan boys angry, but, it seems like as long as it says "Toyota" you'll take whatever they throw at ya. I guess the rear diff recall is a fluke too? All 200K+?
I guess there's no unity amongst customers? Or maybe y'all work for a dealership? Keep it classy guys!

yep. That's why I mentioned the silver platter. I think a shampoo is reasonable to resolve it. I guess he thinks not. The leak was repaired, now time to fix the stains which they have offered.

How do you go about jumping to the conclusion we're fan boys because we are acting like a mature and reasonable consumers getting a problem fixed with a leaky light? The irony of this is staggering.

There is plenty of unity - The "unity" has agreed that shampooing the interior is fine.

The unity also agrees that your demands are excessive

Yep and on that note time for me to leave before things get out of hand. No fanboyism here. Just common sense and reasonable repairs. Rear diff recall has nothing to do with a leaky light and nobody called it a fluke so not sure why you mentioned that one :notsure: Maybe try another dealer if there are any around you if you aren't happy with that one, which is what it seems like.

You guys jump all over negative posts about Tacomas, but the guy has a legitimate gripe about his truck. It's leaking like a sieve. The response from the dealership sounds less than helpful.

That said, a shampoo and fixed brake light should "make him whole". I don't know what he's going on about with a Carfax report--that shouldn't get reported.

Op, if the shampoo doesn't fix the smell or if their is mold, re-engage with corporate and try a different dealership for replacement upholstery and carpets. Document everything in case it gets ugly but my guess is that they will fix it.

I don't think we jumped all over negative posts about a Tacoma. I think we jumped on posts that make the op seem like the dealer and coporate aren't doing enough, when in fact, they are. They did the repair and offered to clean the mess up. That's all that we mentioned. Once op started saying it wasn't enough, that's when things started getting messy.

edit: just noticed you mentioned the dealership. I've mentioned it as well that it sounded like the op had a bad experience with the dealership and should try to find another.

Every manufacturer is like this with issues. No one is immune to it. It's the way the dealers handle it that makes the experience suck as they're the front line for the brand in terms of addressing repairs and warranty.

GF's former BMW also had severe water leak coming in from a poor robot applied seal from the factory. The car has since been sold back to a BMW dealer after the repairs (everything affected was replaced, even the slightly rotting floor board was repaired) were made and nothing came up on the carfax for the work done. You think you had a fish tank OP, try emptying two gallons worth of water from the rear seat well buckets and removing all the sound deadening material that has green algae looking mold and spores all over them! It took awhile for us to get that resolved too, because the dealers didn't want to touch it. She drove around without a rear interior for a month or so.

OP, it will take some time for them to get it sorted out, it just won't happen when you demand it fixed "right now". I've been at the dealer front line, it sucks to see these build issues and have to deal with the irate customers, while cleaning up Toyota's QC issues.

Good god, you are lucky to find a Hurricane Katrina vehicle that was fully submerged for months to have it listed on a Carfax let alone a leak that equates to just about the same as leaving a window open for a few nights.

Exactly. Take the offer of clean up and go from there. They aren't going to just say hey this guy wants new seats so lets give it to him.

And you think joining a forum and complaining is going to help how? The best thing you can do is speak with your wallet. Get rid of the truck and buy something else. That is truly the only action that you can do that will mean anything to your dealer and to Toyota. Also, make sure you research the next vehicle you buy a bit better so you won't have buyer's remorse like you have now.

Ok, you're right, I'm not very happy. I joined specifically to state an issue in hopes of helping others out. Maybe a little unity. But, if the customer base is that brain washed, then yeah why not cheapen it up. People will still love it.
As far as hypersensitive? Nah, LOL, spent a year in fighting HAAJ in the mountains of Kunar province, COP Monti. Plus made it through Ranger school, Airborne, ASSLT, etc.
Look up 1SG Barton, SGT Leukeala, SPC's: Catlett, Redding, Jirtle. How about PFC Anthony W. Simmons or Andrew R. Looney, and David T. Miller or SPC Osborne? Show some respect and quit being a judgemental individual

You're forgiven , serious though time for me to get out. Time to take the kid to the doc for some shots. Looks like this thread may not be here much longer anyway at this rate.
