Lift options for my 17 taco

I would like to lift my new taco eventually but cannot make a decision on what suspension to go with. I want to go with the more affordable toytec boss 2.0 kit and maybe some UCA's for alignment / ride quality. Lots of people say use the ICON or FOX suspension but I really cannot justify paying 2-3k for the suspension. I occasionally off road when I go to fishing spots or hunting grounds but nothing crazy. I also daily drive the truck and tend to go on spontaneous road trips with it. I plan on keeping the truck for ATLEAST 10 years so I can factor that into the price of the suspension and if it is worth money for the longevity on the suspension then I suppose I can start saving. I plan on buying wheels and tires after the suspension upgrade but for now im going to stick with my OEM kevlars. Any input on suspension is greatly appreciated

The Boss kit is a good kit. You can also do a Bilstein and OME coil swap as well!

In the end, it'll really come down to your budget and your needs.

But the real question is, do you even need a lift? What has the truck failed to functionally deliver that a lift would fix?

 

Curbs at the mall are hard to conquer without 33s

 

don't even need a lift for 33s. 255's will fit OP's truck with no clearance issues and no lift.

I like lifts for looks though. Functionality-wise, I'm eventually gonna add a front bumper and winch so I'll need springs up there for the weight, but its not gonna do anything for me offroad- my diff is always what gets hung up on shit.

yea I kinda figured that haha, I also clicked on @Jibbs signature and am possibly thinking the lift can wait! Still considering all options at this point.

 

I dont need a lift, I want one. Same situation when my 99 taco got totaled. I didnt need a new 17 taco, but I wanted one

 

I did a Bilstein + OME coils on my wife's 16 4Runner, did a OME 887's + Dakar for me 17 Tacoma. 4Runner rides better, but it's coils, both ride firmer, neither rough. I paid $1700ish for my lift, including LR UCA. I also did the ECGS Bushing, worth the hassle.

I'm running 31s or 32s (265/75/r16) on stock rims, looks really good, rides good. I tend to roadtrip a long way and then wheel at short bit, so I wanted the best of both worlds. I average 17 - 21 MPG on the highway.

Send her money. She'll recommend the correct stuff for your usage.

But don't cheap out on a $35k truck. Do it right, do it once.

I hear you all the way on that but I dont think I need anything more than the toytec boss coils. Its not like were comparing racelands to k&w suspension

Well, I ordered my coil overs before they were even on the market. They were a prototype before they were in mass production. That's why they look a little different from the production version. Control arms were from eBay and links are from All Pro Off-road. Try Off-road Warehouse, good luck.
