    Too much but not enough!
4" seems like an incredibly high amount of strain on the axles and the boots, especially without a diff drop. Any pics of the axles?

You never go above 3" on a 4x4!!! That's just asking for trouble. You need to find a happy medium. Do you at least have aftermarket UCA's? Most people run their lifts at 2.5" of lift. You need to have a fair amount of up & downtravel. Or your whole front end will wear out quick. Cv axles, ball joints etc. You don't want to stack lifts either. GL!

You're going to burn through axle boots if you keep running them at that angle

I hope you *at least* have a diff drop kit, but even that is only really good for maybe 3" lift. 4" is pushing it.

Your CV's won't last 1000 miles with that kind of angle. Who cares about your boots... It's not the length of the CV's that's the issue, it's the angle.

Plus, you're stacking lifts which is a general no no.

If you want 4" of lift, you need to go out and get a bracket kit (like pro comp or something). You just can't go more than 3" and expect your CVs to survive.

To my knowledge a diff drop helps guys running 3" lift but even still it doesn't always lower the angle enough...with that much lift I don't know if you'll see a big improvement. You could try the 'boot slide mod' where you slide the boots a little further down the axle shaft to create more space between the fins, that on top of the diff drop might help.

Will it help? Technically, yes, it will be better, but still not "good". Most people say 3" max, and that's WITH a diff drop. Like I said, get procomp or other bracket style lift if you want to do that high...

But, if you're doing it to fit 33's without rubbing, you're better off doing some trimming. Read up on the suspension forum, there's a whole thread on fitting bigger tires on a 3" lift.

33's with a 3" lift and some minor trimming of the fender wells (pinch seam) is pretty standard around here...

that will help with the boots, but I argue with angles like that, the boots are the least of his worries...

Diff drop won't help. 4" is way too high and you shouldn't stack different lifts. You lift with springs OR spacers, not both.

I had my 5100's and eibachs at the middle setting, gave me around 3.5" of lift. Burned through boots every few months. I also had a diff drop. Best thing I did was lowering it back to the lowest setting. Yeah only ~2 inches of lift but totally worth the reliability.

That's weird. I used to have the adjustable 5100's w/ the 620lb 3" Eibach coil lift springs before I switched to my Icon ext. travel coil overs I have now. And with the 5100's on the lowest setting I had 3" of lift. I also had Camburg UCA's with both lifts. It says right on the intstructions from ToyTec.com not to go above the lowest setting since those Eibachs are a 3" coil lift spring. So the spring provides all the lift and you're not preloading the shock while on the bottom setting. Otherwise it can ruin front end suspension components or create coil bind.

take the spacer out and just run the quick lifts and problem solved. nevermind the cvs and balljoints being raped this thing must ride terrible with no downtravel.

stay 2.5" on a 4x4. diff drop really only drops cvs under half an inch.
