I have a 6x10 enclosed and a 6x10 open trailer. They are both stored all the way up to the fence in the driveway. When I tear my current shop down after building the new one I'll put them both on the slab where the old shop was.

I live in the county outside the city though.

All the appliances are new...it's a new construction. Not by choice. None of this shit was by choice. And it's part of Crystal Falls HOA, so definitely won't be able to keep a trailer out front.

And not the fancy part of Crystal Falls. The actually-affordable part with single story homes and smaller lots.

Solidified once stain on my stance to not live in a "community". My sister does, and they also can't do half the shit they want to.

Most of the houses on my street have double gates to the backyard. We have septic fields and need to fit backhoes in. You have to drive across the "lawn"/weeds to access the gate.
An HOA is a deal breaker for me, I respect my neighbors right to not GAF. :)

Yesterday, I, literally, got certified mail from my former HOA stating that I had been fined $25 for leaving the trash can out.

It smelled like shit, so I was airing it out between wife's car and garage door. 1 day!

    Dated July 10, 2016.

Oh hell no. I refused to live somewhere that's going to tell me what I can and can't do in my own yard. Especially one that's going to try and tell me I have to ask if I can paint my house a certain color.

My parents live in a subdivision with a HOA and they told them they couldn't park a brand new Winnebago in their drive and they had to store it off site. They bitched at them every time they were going out of town and brought it over to load it up the evening before they left. They didn't give a shit. It's kind of ridiculous that you can't bring your RV to the house to load it the night before you leave. This was a new 40' one so it wasn't like it was some POS.

Exactly. I could care less if my neighbor has a trailer sitting in their yard/driveway.

Half the people in my parents subdivision got pissed off with the HOA stupid ass shit and quit paying their fee's. All the waterfront property in their subdivision is on a 120 year leases from Southern Company (Georgia/Alabama Power Company). I'm sure that probably allows some leverage as to the HOA bs powers.

One of my clients painted their house against the HOA's list of acceptable colors, it wasn't the right beige. The HOA put a lean on his house, my hero painted his house purple, and an ugly purple. He didn't plan on ever moving, lean void.

Considering most of the people in their subdivision could easily bankrupt the HOA in court I don't think most of them are too worried about it. The smallest house in there is around 6k Sq Ft. and the bigger ones are in the 10k-12k sq. ft. area.

Very few in Austin think that they will stay in the same house forever, not when the property taxes and property values keep going up. HOAs are just concerned about resale values.

The biggest I've built is 5k sq ft, 3k would be huge for me. 1.5 living/1.5 shop.

I've got three years until my youngest son turns 18, then I'm flipping this house and moving out of Austin.

Yeah 3k would be huge for me too. Mine is 1500 and it's fine for us. Wouldn't mind a little bigger but not worth moving for. I've got great neighbors.
