2nd Gen Grilles

Please forgive me for my ignorance, but I recently fabricated some grille inserts for the 3rd gen tacos and got a ton of interest in doing one for 2nd gens. As I've started looking at them, it looks like there might be two different versions of the second gen? At least when it comes to the front end of the truck? Is this an accurate statement?

If so, does anyone know which was more popular? I don't know that I have the cash to do them both at the same time.

I believe 2005-2011 had the same style, although the inner part of the 2011 was different than the 05-11, then the 2012-2015 trucks have a different grill style all together (different shape of actual grill) look at some trucks on this site you will see what I mean.

As far as what's more popular, not sure and I may be biased because I have a 14

not sure yet. my third gen grilles came in at $240 a pop. these look like they will be far less material, so i'd imagine they'd be cheaper. won't know until i get my hands on one of the current grilles, get it to my CAD guy, mock it up and take it to the fab shop i use. i'll keep you posted.

very interested in this OP, let us know if you're able to do them. would love to buy a grille without having to do all the work myself. 2005-2011 are obviously more popular

 

i'm a little bit scared to go down that road. i'll have to pay the CAD guy to mock up a different design anytime someone wants something custom and it could get expensive. now, if someone doesn't mind paying the fee, i'm totally down with that.

Where are you located? I have a 2009 grill from my old truck, the paint is ruined but for what you are using it for it might be helpful

i am in utah. i was going to try and hit some junk yards before attempting to get one shipped to me.

any idea on how they secure to the outer part of the truck? clips? bolts? any pictures?

 

That should be a hit, considering the reasonable price and design, unlike the expensive "DB" douche bag grill with dumb logo:

My 09 was 2 bolts on top ans then it just popped out. 14 has the two bolts on top and some annoying clips on the bottom
