I need to do gears and ARB's before next summer, twin ARB compressor setup... I just would want the buss man mostly before then so I have minimal things directly wired to the battery (I would only have the trickle charger hookup)

Yea I remember reading through his thread there and seeing you had gotten yours there. I need to figure out my money situation a little first and time (been wrenching on other people's trucks and the reg cab needs attention) so I'll be holding off on a buss man for a little bit, but was planning on going with Sandman if I didn't buy yours first

Allens and milk- the Maine State beverage! I like it somewhat. Much rather have Kamora and Vodka with milk though. We call them "whiteys" lol

 

I'll throw a splash of Allen's in my coffee now and then, but I don't understand the obsession some people have with it. It's too sweet and doesn't have enough kick.

 

Jason does your evo run a turbo set up?

 

Currently a stock turbo. I had a full turbo setup ready for the car then I lost interest and sold it all off. I'll rebuild the head eventually and port/polish it. From there I'll decide if I want to go to a larger turbo - as it stands now I have no interest in additional power as its dialed in for handling autocross tracks not full circuits. Plus I rarely have time to drive it anymore.

As most of you know I recently ordered some ARB Dakars for the rear of my truck. Since ARB was discontinuing their original ones (CS047R) I wanted to get a pair of them since the new heavy duty set were at around a $100 price hike. I go ahead and order and I get in 2 springs but they don't match. ARB did a slight revision on them for about the last 6 months but didn't do anything with their part number so when I got mine in I got one of the original design and one of the revised designs (anti squeak pads on all lower springs). Well it took weeks of back and forth with Amazon and it's 3rd party seller but I got my money back with the agreement to send them back or to repay for them so I came up with a plan. I looked again and Amazon said they had more of these springs so I figured I'd order one and whatever one I got in would make a matching pair and I'd only have to send one back in. Yesterday was my delivery day for my new spring to come in and wouldn't you know it Amazon sent me one of the NEW springs (EL095R) that is designed to replace the original ones. Now I have 3 different kinds of ARB Dakar springs!



I immediately called ARB to tell them of my dilemma to see if there was anything they could do since they were the ones that did a revision and didn't change the P/N. Remember that I am leaving for my vacation on the 21st so I don't have time to go through Amazon again. 1st guy I spoke to at ARB understood but wasn't in a position to do anything, 2nd guy and I were just butting heads and said he doesn't have my money and I need to contact my seller. I finally get that guy to pass me on to someone else and I had to leave a voicemail! Luckily it didn't take long for him to get back to me and after a bunch of back and forth we agreed for ARB to send me another spring (EL095R) and 2 of the AAL's to make them into a set of the heavy duty springs. I had to pay for the AAL's and the freight. Still not a bad deal though. Problem is I won't get them until maybe Wednesday or Thursday of next week and I'm leaving Friday! Looks like I'm doing it after work whenever they come in.



So what I thought would be a major thrashing on my truck weekend has turned into a just somewhat thrashing on my truck weekend. I still plan on replacing both my upper and lower control arms up front. So if anyone is around this weekend and wants to swing by and lend a hand you're more then welcome to.

 

Very cool once my LS swap is in I'm looking at possibly a turbo to run some low boost

 

really didn't win the odds on that one haha
glad they were able to work it all out in the end, but still sucks footing the upfront cash for 4 springs and 2 overloads though

 

I mean, that sucks and all; nothing like planning on working on your truck only to have the plans wrecked by getting the wrong parts, but...

 

Was thinking of adding a nylock nut to the top of the shear bolt with the new UCAs.
The nut was red loctited, but thought the security may be a good thing.
Any opinions on doing this?
Anyone happen to know the size of that nut? I have been looking on different Toyota parts sites with no luck.

I could tell you if you're in the area and swing by the house, errr if someone doesn't answer I can measure mine when I get home if it's not pouring out

 

Get some good Sawzall blades - below are the ones I found worked best with some good cutting/tapping fluid

Also if you can take the through bolt out it makes a huge difference in less material to cut. For me it was the cam sleeves that were seized but the through bolts came out no problem.

I know we needed a 17mm wrench for it, but that is only part of the info I need.

 

I'd peen one of the threads on the bolt before I relied on just a nylock for something like that, honestly, if a castle nut isn't an option.

 

@tacobell007 You know what.....I may have the ones that we cut off in the UCA box still. Will have to look there.
