Which iPad should I get?

So me and my mom have decided to buy my stepdad an iPad for his anniversary. They make the 3g one and non 3g one. Here is a link to the prices:

I want to get him the 3g one for sure but I'm torn between the 32gig and 64gig. He will be putting pictures and work stuff on it. I figure the whole price to be around $920 with accesories for the 32 and $1020 with accesories for the 64. It's only $100 more for the 64gig. Should we just get that one?

He can transfer his stuff onto the desktop at home. But how much will 32gig be able to hold? A months worth of average use? I need help. I'm not a big computer guy.

 

when is the aniv?cuz im pretty sure the 3g comes out a few weeks later than the normal wifi

 

first off: why the hell would you spend money on this?

but if your hearts set, also take into account the $15-$30 a month charge for the 3G depending on what plan you buy

 

Get him the one with wings that absorbs the most!!

 

Backing up to another computer is a good idea.

If he is going to be doing that-the 32G should be plenty. 32GB is about 4000 REALLY high quality photos, or 100s of thousands of Word/Excel/PowerPoint type documents.

 

You can preorder and it ships at the end of April. Their anniversary is Saturday but her understands he has to wait. After all its worth it.

He is a general contractor and has his own business. He goes on a lot of bids. He would put this to use. Plus my mom said she will use it to read while on trips and stuff. The $30 3g plan is not a problem. They have that on their laptop that they have never used and his phone that he uses but it sucks because its a blackberry. So I will have them cancel those 2 3g plans. They will be saving money.

What about video? How much would one dvd take up?

But back to the subject. If I were to get an iPad I would get the best one possible.

For that money I would get a MacBook. Has a 250 gig hard drive. But, thats just me. My 30 gig iPod video held all my music (4.4 gigs) vids (2 gigs) pics and other stuff and had a lot of room left. but for another $100 I would go with the 64 gig cause he will get more life out of it.

 

Yeah go with the bigger one, it's only a $100 more for twice the space. It's better to have more space than you need, because you will come to the point where you will say I should have bought the other one.

BUT, if it were me, I would be buying a mac book as well. Its just way more useful, but to each their own.

 

He has a new laptop that just sits. I think this will be more practical. Also very light.

Yep. I wont ever buy one because my phone has wi-fi and 3G and my mp3 player has twice as much hd spaces as the 64GB pad. But if I did, I would want the best one I could get. The prices for the upgrades are worth it. wi-fi sucks compared to 3G and even 64GB is not a lot of space I have almost that much taken up on my mp3 player alone.

 

A DVD is ~5 Gigs at MAX. I don't know the exact specifics right now. But, most people that watch movies on the iPad will put them in a Quicktime or some other "compressed" format. Which would be around ~900 MB pending the length of the movie and what format. 480P, 720P, or 1080P (Though, the resolution on the iPad can only handle, I believe at best 720i or p)

Yeah- If you are looking to save DVDs the 64 is probably best. I think I'm going to be getting the 32...but my photos and music will be on my desktop and I'll use netflix for movies most likely.

Im tellin ya, wait another 6 months for the 2nd gen model.

I have a 2G iphone freakin love the device. However, 4 months after I bought it, they release the 3G for 100 bucks less and twice the storage!

you can guarantee that Apple already has the 2ng gen ipad worked out, and maybe this time it will have...; Flash support, multi-tasking ability, removable storage, all the stuff that it should have but dosent..... and more.

Course be pretty cool to see how quick these thing get jailbroken.
